There is a significant Alexandria Police and Fire presence in the 400 block of N Armistead St. in response to a residential fire. N. Armistead is closed between Quantrell and Beauregard. Minor injuries are being treated and an investigation is underway.
The City's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is accepting applications for the fall for both adults and teens. This volunteer-based program is designed to train community members in disaster preparedness and emergency response.
