Nothing more rewarding than this! Releasing a young Gannet that we’ve been rehabilitating for the past 9 months! Even better when an Albatross flies past seconds later!
I’m pleased to announce the twine tangled Great Northern Diver has been released back onto Covenham Reservoir! A huge thanks to Chloe at Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary for looking after him this weekend and sending me this video ❤️
Maybe a bit late after 5ish years of birdwatching, but today I did my first solo twitch to Donna Nook to see this lovely Wryneck! Shocking photos as I only had my phone and a scope but so happy to have finally seen one

Absolutely ecstatic with the views we got of the Bearded Vulture today who decided to perch up on a rock in front of us after a feed. What a bird!! ☺️

@RareBirdAlertUK
It’s our last night in Estonia and we were treated to beautiful views of this Ural Owl, who was sat singing to a nearby partner! Potentially my favourite bird of the trip ❤️
Whilst already on a trip to the south to visit family we couldn’t resist popping in to see the 3 Penduline Tits in Weston-super-Mare! Cold and muddy but 100% satisfaction!

So happy to finally catch up with one of my most wanted birds!! We were so close to giving up when this Hoopoe shot out into view, thank you so much to the workers at Bardney Dairies for allowing us access onto the site for a closer look!
This afternoon I was alerted that the long staying Great Northern Diver at Covenham Reservoir had become tangled in some sort of twine or wire. With help from
@philespin
we caught the bird and removed the twine, and it has now been dropped off to an experienced rehabilitator
On Friday morning we flew out to Estonia for a spot of birding and wildlife watching! Today we ticked off a lot of our dream list including Hawk Owl, Middle Spotted Woodpecker and Pygmy Owl! Here’s to hoping we’ll see more in the coming days ❤️
As per usual a "quiet weekend lazing around" with
@OwenBeaumont1
became a twitch
Squacco Heron showing well eating plenty of newts at RSPB Frieston Shore
The lovely Red-Breasted Goose that’s been hanging around Lincolnshire! Such a small fellow, he made the Brent’s look big!
@OwenBeaumont1
@RareBirdAlertUK
Was so pleased to see the Taiga Flycatcher this afternoon! After 3 hours of waiting and missing it sat out beautifully for a few minutes. As well as the Red-flanked Bluetail showing beautifully for starters and dessert
@OwenBeaumont1
Fantastic first week in Lincolnshire getting my first Rose-Coloured Starling and Caspian Tern, as well as Curlew Sandpiper and Wood Sandpiper
@OwenBeaumont1
Another fantastic visit to
@Bempton_Cliffs
to release 2 Guillemots that have been in our care for a few months! Thank you so much to the staff who were all so helpful! Good luck Guilleys!
An absolutely fantastic weekend away at Spurn with the
@InstaBirders
with highlights such as Bee Eater, Golden Oriole, Purple Heron and this Eastern Subalpine Warbler! A total of 5 new lifers for me I can’t wait to go back!
@spurnbirdobs
I only had my binoculars and phone so I’ll leave the photos to the experts! But dead chuffed with
@_JamieEverett
’s find of this bluethroat today! A good sign for a great week!
Today I said goodbye to Pecan, a Pied Wagtail fledgling I’ve been rearing for the past few weeks. It was a soft release so unfortunately no footage of him going, but I’ll miss him so much!
Had such a lovely weekend meeting up with friends, ended perfectly with this very showy Spotted Crake at RSPB St. Aidans
@RareBirdAlertUK
@RSPBAireValley
A new one for me! Today we were brought this guillemot sporting a bright yellow pair of feet! We assume it’s a form of partial leucism but would love to hear if anyone has seen this before!
Back home after a fantastic week of birding and chillaxing! My first time on Scilly and I come back with 8 life ticks taking my life list to 289. The race to 300 is on!
Dipping my toes into the moth world with this Privet Hawk Moth in our trap this morning, and a Magpie Moth found during a walk in Chambers Farm Wood!
@OwenBeaumont1
Bumped into this lovely roost of Pied Wagtails sat just outside the busiest shopping centre in Nottingham, there had to be a few hundred all sat quietly amongst the trees!
@OwenBeaumont1
Absolutely amazing weekend away in Norfolk with
@NTSUConSoc
, a count of 102 bird species including 2 lifers for me with the Rough Legged Buzzard and Red Breasted Flycatcher! Thanks to
@OwenBeaumont1
for letting me borrow some photos
Yesterday me and
@OwenBeaumont1
went to visit the Cairngorm Reindeer herd. 150 individuals have been reintroduced into the Scottish mountains since 1952. We had a fantastic time learning about these beautiful animals!
@ReindeerHerd
We found a river warbler on Out Skerries! Photos by
@_JamieEverett
not ideal in light but very good field views by all both in flight and for some on rocks. Dark backed, no streaking, pot bellied, dark throated, undertail coverts dark with white tips.
@RareBirdAlertUK
@BirdGuides
Today I said goodbye to my first rehab of the year! Bod was found in the middle of a garden alone with no nest in sight, and after a month of TLC he was released back into the wild! I’ll never get sick of my job ❤️
Had a wonderful morning at St James Church in Louth helping to clean the area around the Peregrine nest with
@OwenBeaumont1
. It was amazing to see the adults and their juveniles flying at eye level!
@johnclarkson500
A very special release for me today! I got to say goodbye to Bourbon, who I got to personally help rescue after he was abandoned by his mum at Donna Nook. A picture from the day of his rescue, and a picture from his release ❤️
Bearded Vulture spotted south of where we’re viewing roughly where pinned below. Circled for a while and is currently sat on a rock above a small digger
@OwenBeaumont1
@RareBirdAlertUK
Had a wonderful few days in Scotland this week, a highlight was definitely getting unexpectedly good views of this little guy on the Isle of Arran! Dippers are always a favourite of mine
Absolutely terrible photo because I couldn’t get my camera out quickly enough
Walking into the front of Paignton Zoo and I had to duck under a lovely little firecrest, not complaining!
One of two black rabbits seen from the backgarden of
@OwenBeaumont1
's house. Has anyone seen this colouration before in wild rabbits or could it be the result of cross breeding with domestic rabbits?
An early start at
@RSPBCoombes
with
@NTSUConSoc
, managed to spot my first male Pied Flycatcher and also saw Bullfinch, Ravens, Buzzards, Treecreeper and Blackcaps
@OwenBeaumont1
This is a public reminder to PLEASE pick up your rubbish! If we hadn’t helped this bird it would’ve starved to death as it couldn’t open its beak, luckily this guy should only need a day or two of rest before it can be re-released at the reservoir where it has been staying
Over the moon to find this male Bluethroat on Out Skerries this afternoon, after initial brief views the gang quickly joined as we were treated to lovely views
Heres a before and after picture of Jackson, who 4 months ago was 150g and on the brink of death. After many a sleepless night he finally got released back into the wild today a hefty 799g and I couldn't be prouder ❤
Lovely day out at
@WhisbyNatureP
this afternoon with
@OwenBeaumont1
, treated to lots of bullfinches and some sunny cormorants. No sign of the black headed blue tit but the feeders were packed with other small garden birds.
@PaulOakland1976
@SwarovskiOptik
It was a good day for raptors! A peregrine, merlin, short-eared owl, barn owl, 5+ marsh harriers and 2 hen harriers! Plenty of waders and wildfowl too
@Aaronl2590
@SwarovskiOptik
I think so so far, the quality is so clear and the colours are more vibrant than with any other binoculars I’ve used recently! Swarovskis customer service is impeccable too, worth the money in my eyes!
@lizardschwartz
@pseudoliam
@philespin
Not as skinny as I expected! I think we got to it before it deteriorated too much, which is lucky considering it’s beak was forced closed with the twine
