She ain’t wrong, I spent four years working for
@HackneyAbbott
and would see the post and the tweets every day. Vicious, nasty, scary and at times ridiculously confusing too. So proud she’s speaking out.
Biggest thing about clip of the Duke leaving hospital is the Black nurse whose hand he shook and who nursed him so he could go home. Our emergency services wouldn’t function without immigration from the world over. Fact. Celebrate it.
It was an immense honour to enter Parliament today and start to get things ready to serve the people.
A busy few days ahead before getting 🚝 back to ST5 later this week.

The
#ShapingUs
campaign is so important. Here’s me and my lil sister just before my 5th birthday!
A decent society will ensure families - and kids in the
#earlyyears
of life - have a safe, warm and affordable home. And parents and carers with jobs that pay properly.
I hope you’ll also consider joining me in sharing a picture of yourselves before your fifth birthday to help with those conversations and to share some smiles and memories too.

@hackneyabbott
: ‘Why am I abused so much? I’m both black and a woman’
I worked for Diane for 4 years - the poison, racist and quite gross abuse that would be sent was unreal. And it’s got a whole lot worse since 2015! Some in Commons happy to ignore it
Yesterday about 6:30, I was at an event and hit by a very angry woman.
She called me a ‘ f*****g Black t*at’ amongst many other expletives.
Why? Because I was wearing a mask.
I’m fine but this is important. The anti vaxers won’t win and neither will the haters.

Dad and me at my first mayoral engagement this morning. It was a pleasure to lead the citizenship ceremony and welcome new 🇬🇧citizens from 🇩🇿🇧🇷🇨🇿🇬🇭🇳🇬🇧🇬🇮🇳🇩🇪
My Grandad would have been 105 today. Left Jamaica on a boat in 1941 to help the war effort here, like so many smart, diligent and hard working men and women of his generation 🇯🇲
This was the sky (sun rise at Keele) when Mrs J and I left the count - just gorgeous.
Have had a little bit of sleep… and am so grateful to the people of Newcastle-under-Lyme for placing their trust in me.
The work starts today.

would have died in its infancy were it not for black nurses' as unsung heroes celebrated - women like

's mum and my great aunt and so many others who left their island homes for Blighty. There's Black in the 🇬🇧alright! 🌹✊🏽
I am in the process setting up my office, tomorrow I will get access to my email address and so please bear with me.
My office will be up and running as soon as possible and we will share details of my first surgery and how to get in contact with me and my team.
After 42 years at his newspaper stand by the clocktower in Crouch End, having taken over from his Dad and his grandfather, Paul Saxton is closing the page and retiring. A real pleasure to say thank you and goodbye!
It’s been a real honour to serve as Mayor of Haringey since 2020.
All good things come to an end; I will be standing down on May 23rd 2022.
Many congratulations to Cllr Gina Adamou - Haringey’s Mayor-elect.
Very grateful to the Secretary of State
@DefraGovUK
,
@SteveReedMP
, for meeting me yesterday.
It was my first meeting here in Westminster - the Minister knows (and already knew!!) that I will be working every day to
#stopthestink
and clean our air
#LoveNuL
And that’s a wrap - it’s been an honour, a privilege and a good time too.
Whatever happens, we have worked our hardest and this picture sums it all up for me. Grateful to everyone for their support and love.

There is ONE Black man on the
@LabourLordsUK
benches. The last Labour Leader to appoint a Black man to HoL was Gordon Brown in 2010. Whatever views on HoL, it's there & appointments are still made. This isn't about factionalism, it is about will and intent. So, why no Black men?
The response to my calls for fair representation in the Labour Party have been, at times, unbelievable this weekend. A big relief to start a new week sharing stories - and the burden - with my band of brothers.

Just got back to Newcastle-under-Lyme after an extraordinary week in Parliament. With my 🚝 buddy

!
Have a busy few days ahead back in ST5 including my Auntie’s 70th birthday as well as several community events and home visits.

Priti Patel to push ahead with end to free movement with zero regard for the inevitable shortages in the care, hospitality or agriculture sectors of our economy! And it stinks.
Thank you to
@EmilyThornberry
for joining us in Newcastle tonight.
Just over two weeks to go - we will fighting for every vote, every hour of every day!

I genuinely felt choked reading this. My grandfather came from Jamaica in the early 40s and was subject to the most horrific racism and abuse because he was Black. This would be such a welcome step.
For constituents in
#NewcastleunderLyme
- my email has just gone live for casework and invitations etc and it is: Adam.jogee.mp

I haven’t got an office team yet and so it’s me on emails but I will come back as soon as I can.

If Sunak lasts 8 weeks and FF don't bring the coalition in Dublin down - the Taoiseach and the UK PM could both be of Indian descent. That's pretty incredible.
My Uncle, Islam Jogee, died over night in Harare. Here we are on my last visit home. He was a big, wise and gentle man and spent so much time and effort helping ensure that those with very little had access to food, water and shelter.
Very disappointed members failed to elect a Black man to the NEC. What have we got to do? For all the empty rhetoric around re: diversity and race; we now need to see real action.
@Keir_Starmer
should appoint
@DavidLammy
as one of 3 Shad Cab reps!
James Timpson OBE
@JamesTCobbler
has been appointed Minister of State (Minister for Prisons, Parole and Probation) in the Ministry of Justice

Today is the anniversary of the first Black MPs elected to our national Parliament.

The final canvass on the last day of

here in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Thank you to everyone who has stood with me over the last 18 months.
We’ve worked hard, reached out and tried to give people hope things can be better. Over to the people now!

Many congratulations to Bibi Khan MBE - the first woman to lead the London Islamic Cultural Society and to serve as President of Wightman Road Mosque.
A good friend to many, a constant support to me personally and the most marvellous champion of all Haringey’s communities.
Wishing the good people of Haringey, and my crew here in Hornsey, a happier, more peaceful, more hopeful, more inclusive, more respectful, more representative and a damn lot healthier 2021. Remember:

Sad news. Fond memories of Rabbi Pinter from 2015 GE. Had to meet him to get a photo for
@HackneyAbbott
’s election leaflet. I was sent on a wild goose chase and when I finally found him, he was more interested in election predictions then he was the actual pic taking
Rabbi Avraham Pinter, an influential Orthodox Jewish leader from Stamford Hill, London, with close ties to the British Labour Party, passed away from coronavirus. He was the first rabbi to become a local councillor (in Hackney borough council) in 1982.
Very pleased to pay a call on 🇮🇪 Ambassador
@AdrianGONeill
at the
@IrelandEmbGB
. It gave me a chance to pay tribute to Haringey’s vibrant and long standing Irish community - and reaffirm my commitment to championing all they do!
Sadly, I can’t be with my family at my Aunt’s memorial service. Just watched from afar with a big, BIG heart and many cherished memories.
She would be loving news from the campaign trail. 💙❤️🌹
What a difference 24 hours makes - it’s chucking it down in Newcastle and the sun was shining on us last night.
Grateful to everyone for joining me in the liquid sunshine.
People are up and out early - with their hoods and 🌂 and fighting for change.

Couldn’t bring myself to watch all of this. Sorry but it’s total tosh. Go see what happened in Portugal. Socialist Party seized power with support of communists and other far left parties: wages increased, massive investment programme launched and Portugal’s economy boomed.
