'90s SAILOR MOON was a chimera. It could look '70s, '80s, of its time, and also sometimes very shōjo or very shōnen. The art and animation was so inconsistent, but I honestly love that because I find something "new" every time I watch/study an episode.

A quick 🧵 where I gush over the attack sequences from WEDDING PEACH, a '90s magical-girl anime (w/ character designs by SAILOR MOON's Kazuko Tadano). The 3 core characters' basic attacks are adequate, although they don't feel all that dynamic either.

The oft overlooked and dismissed, 2003 live-action adaptation of Naoko Takeuchi's SAILOR MOON manga is, from a story perspective, excellent. Characters are well developed, the risks are big, and it makes the overly familiar Dark Kingdom story feel fresh. It deserves more love.
