My daughter with #cysticfibrosisis is in #TheQueue for a new liver. There are 7,000 terminally ill children & adults suffering. The #Queens #funeral & the coronation is estimated to cost 6 billion £s. I would prefer #NHS were given infrastructure to solve the transplant problem.

@LONGJOHN_HM Yes, money is the issue, because if you improve the infrastructure as Spain did then you will retrieve more donor organs . They have well over twice the number of ACTUAL donors as the UK. They had one of worst donation rates in Europe before.

Transplant units need protected #ICU beds or many #transplants will be cancelled because there is no bed for the recipient. King's liver unit has some but Addenbrookes in Cambridge has none. Birmingham cancelled 3 liver transplants recently because no ICU bed available .

PEOPLE DON'T REALISE - being on a transplant list is like holding a ticking time bomb. At any time, you could die or get taken off the list to die, too weak for #transplant . Years pass living on a knife edge. Endless waiting, for the call which may or may not save your life.

SHOUT ABOUT THIS TO YOUR MP!! #ICU beds are essential for #OrganDonation & #Transplants . Our consultant says ICU units are so busy there is no time for donation to take place. Also transplants are cancelled if no bed available for recovering recepients @hotnewsx @ShaunLintern

WE MUST CALL FOR AN INQUIRY into why 1000s die on UK #transplant list or having been taken off it because they are too ill, having waited too long. Spain does not have the same problem. @GOVUK @NHSBT stop blaming lack of #donors . Drs say our system is to blame. SAVE LIVES & MONEY

FAMILIES NEEDING #TRANSPLANT : Grab some OD stickers & talk to people in the street about #OrganDonation . Offer a sticker for the back of their phone. Inform them family has to give consent as nobody knows. If we all did this, think of the impact! People are happy to listen.
