Because I now have Bluesky I am updating my signed PGP message. It's here: My key is rsa3072/cb9ba8d242bc9bc9136645edd76cc2e070f6d9ec and it should be on public keyservers.
I normally try not to comment on events before 72 hours have passed, but I think I can and should say something now. The
#clubq
shooting is a perfect example of why concealed carry in alcohol based businesses needs to be allowed.
@ErinInTheMorn
The article I saw didn't even print her name. "Elon Musk's daughter wants nothing to do with him, changes name, legally transitions." That is all that needs to be said.
@Esqueer_
@Target
Remember. Target has incredible loss prevention. These people could be getting rung up on felony vandalism very easily for Target and they're choosing not to.
@Esqueer_
Also it's clear that Disney won't cave. DeSantis tried to mess with them, and now he can't. For all intents and purposes Disney is a county in Florida.
@stevanzetti
It's this lack of physical fitness that makes cops fear for their life if involved in any kind of hand fight. You wonder why they handcuff elementary schoolers all the time, I think we've found an answer.
Just because someone is in a bar or nightclub doesn't mean they will be drinking. There are already designated drivers, why not designated defenders? And for that matter there are people like me who CANNOT drink for medical reasons.
@MorosKostas
I'll say what I said before. Paul Harrell said (paraphrased): "Clearly it isn't guns, so the question we need to ask is what did there used to be that we don't have now preventing mass shootings, or what didn't we have then that we do have now that's causing mass shootings."
@JUNlPER
The full quote is something like "In matters of taste, the customer is always right." "The customer" is a hypothetical agglomeration of every customer of the store.
@QueerArmorer
If you want a laugh, and some ideas for how to interrupt bureaucracy, read the OSS (CIA predecessor) Simple Sabotage Field Manual, from 1944.
@IDoTheThinking
Do you really want that? There are about a million active duty military, a million reservists, a million cops, and thirty million private gun owners?
Do you think that would go over well? Do you think this can happen without starting a civil war?
Transgender is trending so I'll say my piece. Transgender people and those who love transgender people. You are not safe. Consider preparing for things to get worse. If it's right for you, buy a firearm. And do the other things.
@DotSledge
@HeWhoRoarks
I'm a ZF boy. Give me that ZF 8HP. You can't bang off shifts in 1/8th of a second with 1000 pounds of torque with three pedals. I embrace the sigils.
@KurtSchlichter
I think the Civilian Marksmanship Program should start sending out all the M16A2s that are piled up. The original intent of it was so people could be familiar with the gun they would use if they went to war.
I was just thinking, I love how law literate the gun community is. I don't know if any other community that has such a deep knowledge. I can mention things like 922(g)(3) or 922(r) and probably half the people reading know what I'm talking about.
@Haleaziz
Isn't it a very true, very binary, very cut and dry, very facty fact that when people have a fever of over 104 they need to be in the hospital?
I'm hoping someone goes to prison, but I'm guessing that won't happen.
@anarchoboognish
25% of home invasions where someone is home end with an act of violence against a resident. If you're willing to chance that that's fine, but a lot of people aren't.
The best thing any Democrat can do about gun laws is to just shut up. For pro-gun voters it's usually issue number 1 or 2. For anti-gun voters it's like issue number 6 or 8.
Why do anti-gun people think posting pictures of dead people will convince anyone? Gun owners aren't ignorant that guns are dangerous and potentially deadly. A lot of gun owners are hunters, and know full well what they do.
It's just ghoulish, tactless, tasteless, and nauseating
Does anyone else feel like something is totally different since the
#clubq
shooting? I feel a different vibe, and I don't like it.
The phrase 'Kristallnacht in slow motion' has been in my mind for months, but now it feels much more immediate.
I am afraid.
@LoloHasFeelings
How do you propose to get rid of guns without involving the police? Will you be lining up outside my house, and seventy million other houses?
@MorosKostas
Paul Harrell said (paraphrased): "Clearly it isn't guns, so the question we need to ask is what did there used to be that we don't have now preventing mass shootings, or what didn't we have then that we do have now that's causing mass shootings."
@NotoriousPBG
Denigrating the Weimar Republic is the kind of thing that ought to get someone (redacted). They are saying they want to be Nazis. That's what they're saying.
@NutsNBolts1937
Is that comic accurate in that a UAW person would have a Ferrari? I know back in the day you couldn't bring a foreign car on UAW property.
@PSKendra
@soylattegrl
Yeah, the level of fanfare whem he turned 18 was bigger than for Kendall Jenner or Danielle Bregoli. That in and of itself is fucking creepy and concerning.
@ghostof_myfanwy
@JUNlPER
*That* is not maple syrup. You do not call *that* maple syrup. Maple syrup comes from maple trees. That is corn syrup with color and flavor.
@communoah
@AshleyLatke
You might be onto something. If you give a kid an unfiltered internet connection, there's a chance they'll get in trouble, but maybe they end up with confidence and right attitude. Most of my friends grew up like that and ended up very chill, mature, and logical about sex.
Paul Harrell: Do not lionize people who used firearms in civilian self defense. The media gets facts wrong, and it has nothing to do with your skill or ability, and it's a misfortune if you get involved in one.
Paul Harrell Fans: ๐ He shot someone! isn't that cool?! ๐
Charlie Kirk, CEO of Turning Point USA, is openly calling for the lynching of transgender individuals.
Says that trans people should be "dealt with" like men did "in the 50s and 60s"
He's the latest major conservative calling for violence against us.
You know what really grinds my gears? When, after I point out to someone what a small percentage of gun deaths mass shootings or murders with rifles are, and they say they don't care about it.
They say, to my face, that they don't care about 97% of gun deaths.
Here is a hot take. All people should have the right to a minimum 6 month backlog of any medication they take. Between insurance, pharmacists, doctors, and laws, there's too much fuck up potential to not have a buffer.
There's an old old saying: God made men. Colt made them equal.
People say it a lot without thinking about it. I want you to really think about it. What it means is that no matter your age, sex, or physical condition, no one can imperil your life without imperiling theirs.
As soon as the California AWB falls, I'm getting a Colt 6920 with an old style roll mark. Other people waiting for AWBs to fall, what's the first thing you're getting?
@davidhogg111
You're just learning about this now? You've had years. If someone is going to be speaking as an expert like you are, they should know these things.
@HRRevels1
You'd think that, but by and large it isn't the case. I lot of people who say that are really projecting. Democrats have been some of the biggest proponents of the Mulford Act.
@GaryLazer_Eyes
@MorosKostas
Blue states are shall-issue. Green states are constitutional carry. Magenta states are shall-issue now but are going constitutional soon.
For anyone comparing the US to New Zealand, I think it's worth pointing out that New Zealand has no written guarantee of rights, censorship is a common practice, they actively prosecute people for obscenity, and they have a population about the size of Alabama.
@MorosKostas
I think that's the right question, but it's a question that invites infinitely many wrong and dangerous answers. Because people will insert whatever change in society lines up in their political belief as a bad thing.
@IDoTheThinking
There are tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of machine guns that were smuggled back in by GIs, from WW1 through Vietnam. Are you going to metal detect every backyard in Nebraska?
More trains derail in the US than people get killed by rifles. That alone should tell you the utility of an 'assault weapons ban' and where our time could perhaps be better spent.
@failnaut
I hate to say this, but I think you and your kid have learned a good lesson about school, and what their values and beliefs are.
If I were you I would demand a verbal and written appology to him from the teacher and principal.
@AlanaFeral
@ErinInTheMorn
Remember: Depending on your state, state law may protect you too, and be faster and easier to use. California has the fantastic Unruh Civil Rights Act.
@fagmyer
@birdsong47
@RepSwalwell
They mean "stack up." It means line up like a SWAT team would before entering a building. It's another way of saying 'come and take them or shut up.'
@TheWapplehouse
I mean if someone keeps coming at you and you tell them not to, that's definitely something you can respond to. I think a pepper spray would have been perfect here.
I know this is the universal human complaint, but dear God is shit expensive. I'm looking at getting a knife and a flashlight for my EDC and together they could be $700!
@theempressjulia
The thing is, there is no appropriate time to talk gun politics, tragedy is too frequent. That said, the reason I don't like to talk about recent events is that the story is often unclear, and I don't want to add turmoil unnecessarily, before enough of the facts are in.
