Lol, my fellow brits using Windows 11 with en-GB in the Insider Program might have noticed that MS has mistranslated ZIP files as "postcode" files in the latest builds.

#Windows11
Windows has had a dark mode since Windows 10 Version 1511, released November 2015.
To this day, it is still incomplete. Even in Windows 11, there are elements of the OS that do not adhere to dark mode.
I hope Microsoft finally finishes it with Windows 12 lol
*Global chip shortage happens*
Microsoft: Let's force everyone who didn't buy a new PC in the last 3 years to have to go out and buy one if they want our shiny new OS
8th gen CPU minimum for Windows 11 is absurd. It's so unnecessary.
Today I learned that the Surface Dial is a product that Microsoft still makes and sells. It's even still within its active support lifecycle, with firmware updates planned through June 1, 2025.
What is the difference between the close and minimise buttons on macOS? They seemingly do the same thing, because neither of them actually close an application
THIS is the "new" Surface Laptop with Snapdragon X. It finally has a new design, larger display with thinner bezels, and a haptic touchpad.

I am jealous that Apple can deliver a complete cosmetic redesign of macOS, that touches everything from the "shell" to in-box apps, in just one year. Meanwhile, I'm on year three of waiting for Fluent Design to "come to life" on Windows 10 in a clear and consistent manner.
controversial design opinion:
Windows Phone was never a good UI. People at the time claimed that iOS’s heavy visual effects and skeuomorphism got in the way of actual usability, but this is FAR less usable.
Visually overwhelming, impossible to scan and downright unfriendly.
OMG!! Microsoft sent me a Windows XP style

for the holidays! It's soooooooo good, and it came in this super cool XP product box too :D Thanks

Microsoft Edge Phoenix is an internal reimagining of the Edge web browser with a new UI, unique productivity features, and better integration with Windows
I predict that 10 years from now, when AR/VR headsets are as common as smartphones are now, people will look back and think Apple were the ones to start the category.
This is sad considering that Meta really layed the foundation with the Quest line, specifically the quest 2.
Windows 11 is getting an integrated AI assistant, powered by Bing Chat!
It's called Windows Copilot, and it will be able to control Windows settings, analyze content within apps, process complex queries, and more:
Microsoft is now recommending developers focus on building native apps in WPF or WinUI 3. Both are sticking around as the two native app UI platforms on Windows.
Apple launching the next iPad with M4 (instead of waiting until the fall) is genius as it means Qualcomm will have exactly 0 days in market with a chip that competes head to head with Apple's latest processor. Assuming M4 is significantly better than M3, of course.
Additional lock screen cards such as finance and sports are rolling out for Windows 10 in KB5035941 (19045.4235), the feature can be enabled by running:
vivetool /enable /id:48801541
This take is wild. You are only less secure on iPhone in the EU if you choose to be. You are not being forced to venture out into the wild west to acquire apps.
Literally nothing changes if you don't want it to. Stay within Apple's walled garden all you like. It's that easy.
Microsoft touts Windows 11 as THE platform for AI development and experiences, yet OpenAI says it was only able to prioritize a native Mac app because that's where its users are. Ooof.
An early UI exploration prototype for Windows Next Valley accidentally made a brief cameo during the Ignite keynote yesterday. Here's what I know about it:
We've come full circle. iPad users are now asking Apple to do what Windows 8 did. A dual-environment, switching between a touch-first UI and classic desktop interface depending on input method lol
