If hundreds of people showed up asking me to fix the incompetence in my app, I wouldn't call it an "overwhelming response". I would call it failure.
But who am I to say, I'm not a genius working in Ismail Sabri's government.
On this day one year ago Malaysia had only 1 COVID-19 case.
The front liners did an amazing job, the people did a great job, we all know who didn't do a good job though.
We all know who showed incompetence, and now is trying to shift the attention to the vulnerable migrants.
RIP to all the journalists, civil workers, lawyers, persecutors and concerned citizens who worked hard for years to bring him to justice only for a council of elites to grant him discounts on his crimes because he knows someone who knows someone.
As a matter of fact, the guy in the middle front leading the protest, the chairman of Semboyan 1Malaysia was questioned by the police earlier this year for assaulting a foreigner in front of cameras. A good example of the Abah crowd.
Not KKM communication asking people to test everyday and ignoring the affordability factor.
The price of a test can be the price of a meal for a lot of people.
Where did they all study communication?!!
Watching Tun M protesting the crisis Malaysia is facing today reminded me of myself in high school. I joined the teachers in condemning the anonymous thug who wrote profanity slogans on the wall and vandalised it.
It was me, I DID IT.
*gets in Gr*b*
- Driver: where r u from bro?
= Me: Syria
- Are your family & cousins okay?
= What?! I mean some of them are really weird but yeah they're okay I guess.
- I meant the earthquake brother...
= OOOH yeah they're mostly fine, thank you bro.
All the neuroscience you learned can never repair the brain damage that made you a Zionist.
Falafel is Arab food, Maqali is Arab food, Peta bread is Arab.
And for ever, Palestine is Arab from the river to the sea.
This is a good insight into the mind of racist ethnonationalists. Even if you share the same religion, worship the same god, and probably can speak the same language, they will still see you as inferior.
Such a disgusting headline.
During the last moments of 31 December 2019, I was on a roof in KL screaming this year is going to be my year, then all 7.9 billion of us got fucked. This year I will wish for a chocolate cookie.
Attacking a poor man who’s earning an honest living selling food that is clearly not halal while this was buried under the carpet.
Classic Malaysia news
Malaysian friends: this shit doesn't happen in "other" Muslim countries that you'd think it would happen in. You're one of a very few groups in the world that are subjected to this obsessive type of oppression.
1. Muslims in Penang who are seen eating or drinking in public during Ramadan could face legal action, warns Deputy CM Ahmad Zakiyuddin.
According to Bernama, religious authorities will monitor around 120 locations that are “hotspots” for those who do not fast.
The topic of cost of living is a good reminder that during Muhyiddin's govt Malaysians had to raise white flags calling for food aid.
His govt forced people to remove flags and threatened them with fines:
JUST IN
Prime minister
@anwaribrahim
has been accused of being unserious about assisting those in need.
Debating the Budget 2023,
@MuhyiddinYassin
decried the govt's alleged failure in taking meaningful measures to resolve the issue of high cost of living.
Large numbers of migrants are seen around the Saloma Link Bridge near KLCC today -- a regular scene around the capital city during the Aidilfitri holidays.
@boosulyn
Your reaction proves the need for many Malaysians abroad to hide their identities when writing critical pieces about Malaysia. Instead of discussing the opinion piece, you decide to focus on the writer's name (or the lack of it).
1. 7-Eleven Malaysia has clarified that Nutrimalt is not an alcoholic drink, in response to a customer's concern on social media recently.
7-Eleven Malaysia said it received this confirmation on from Nutrimalt's manufacturer, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia.
Academics should do a study on why most Malaysian Twitter users with Palestine flags in their bio are xenophobic, homophobic, and love to simp for Putin.
Palestine was cursed with occupation and the worst of "allies".
1. The Home Ministry has raided a bookstore called Toko Buku Rakyat in KL, according to its owner Benz Ali.
He says two titles were seized, namely "Marx: Sang Pendidik Revolusioner" and "Koleksi Puisi Masturbasi".
"Dah takde dalam Senarai Perintah Larangan, ambik buat apa?"
Some dude on Twitter wrote: "where was the UN when NATO invaded Syria and displaced thousands of people?".
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
All those years I didn't know who displaced us, turns out it's NATO!!
Thanks random Malaysian dude on Twitter.
I received these photos from two foreigners living in KL, according to them, the photos were taken at surau Medan idaman on 3 September.
Does the SOP for mosques in Federal territories prohibit foreigners from entering? if not why is this discrimination still going on?
@myJAWIKL
🧵Viva Palestina & selective solidarity in 🇲🇾:
The events today at the solidarity protest for Palestine are not an isolated or surprising case to anyone familiar with the inner circles of the activism scene in M'sia. It's a good summary of activism in 🇲🇾. Selective & conditional.
Very few things can be worse than hearing Malay supremacists boasting about "helping" Palestine while Palestinian refugees in M'sia suffer from discriminatory policies along with thousands of refugees.
Selective solidarity is sickening.
While many Malaysians are showing great support for the struggle of Palestinians against the Zionist apartheid. Palestinian refugees in Malaysia, just like other refugees are deprived of basic human rights like the right to work or access public education, and banking services.
Only in Malaysia: an organiser of a solidarity protest for Palestine threatens Palestinian protesters with deportation.
The onion would go out of business in the country as satire and reality are often indistinguishable.
Your nationalist ego will refuse to believe it, but the migrant workers you attack every day have done much more and care much more about Malaysia than the thief Najib and the institution that enabled and pardoned him.
Some Malaysians are good at posting absolute dog shit and think they're making a smart argument.
Malaysia has 580 Palestinian refugees as of Aug 2023, and they are denied basic human rights such as work, education & healthcare. That's a fact, your stupid patriotism is not.
I keep seeing misleading tweet about Palestine rights being denied in Malaysia. Palestine people not considered refugee because our country acknowledge them as free people with legitimate country They can exist legally in our school using their own country certification/passport
I don't think anyone should romanticise a PM deciding not to take a salary. Labour should be compensated if you're a PM or an intern at a small business.
It's good to see urgent reform in cabinet salaries amid a living cost crisis. But no human should work for free.
Immigration insists on showing similar images after every raid to dehumanise and criminalise migrant workers.
We heard a lot of lip service from the immigration about holding employers accountable, but never see results.
These workers are victims, not the opposite.

So it's okay to push boats back to the sea and let people die, and it's okay to treat refugees as if they're not equal humans and deprive them of basic human rights, but it's a case of national interest that a couple of kids showed you a middle finger? Ok Malaysia.

1. This is a lie. Malaysia has only 106,120 Rohingya refugees as of Nov 2022.
2. Refugees don't have a "favourite destinations". Due to multiple factors incl. geography, most Rohingya escape from genocide to Malaysia & Bangladesh.
3. Bangladesh has over 1 million Rohingya.
Sounds racist, yet it will be a harsh reality. Malaysia has become Rohingya’s favourite destination.
180,000 of them here, they will stay here generation after generation.
Cont..
So why did twitterjaya decide that it's the responsibility of minority groups to "educate" and reach out to the majority so it doesn't fall into the abyss of religious fascism, xenophobia and misogyny?!
We don't remember applying for this job at all.
logical decision.
The word Allah existed for long years before Islam and it should not be claimed by a race or a religion. Christians and Jews of Arabia used it for long before Islam existed.
When the flood ends, and the roads dry, are you going to march in the streets?
When the migrant hides his rowboat and goes back to the factory, are you going to pretend you didn't see?
When this ends and their Vellfires go, are you going to rage?
Let me hear your anger, scream
A refugee friend just texted me saying "they treat us like shit regardless of who wins, so why are you worried?".
I don't know if I should laugh or cry right now...
Thus the other races were allowed to retain their identification with their countries of origin, their languages and cultures, their schools, their NGO’s and civil organisations, their Chambers of Commerce, associations, assembly halls, sporting teams and clubs etc.
Refugees don't have a choice. We don't have an open catalogue of countries to go to, and then we choose Malaysia, it's our only choice. The journey to Europe is not a walk in the park, thousands died in the sea or freezing on borders.
I actually don’t understand refugees who come to Malaysia. Refugees are treated subhuman here, it’s better to head to Europe with refugee status.
Hell if I could claim refugee status I would leave this country for Europe 😒
The "Be thankful" mindset is very strong in Malaysia. It is mostly used against racial minorities, migrants, and refugees to suppress any discussions about inequality.
This mindset is fundamentally anti-human rights because it stems from a mindset of superiority and supremacy.
🧵UNHCR Malaysia treats refugees with neglect and disrespect:
A refugee friend reached out to me after they tried to contact UNHCR for two weeks to obtain a simple document to open a bank account. They emailed UHNCR twice & called every number they know without any response.

Concerns are being raised at viral videos and photos of schoolchildren made to dress in militant attire and brandishing toy guns, supposedly during the Palestine Solidarity Week ordered at all schools by the Education Ministry.
Sounds like basic knowledge but sadly it’s not: refugees are ENTITLED to human rights just like you. Your denial of their entitlement is a denial of your own.
Refugees don’t owe you any gratitude for having food & shelter.
So fuck racists in M’sia, Indonesia and the globe.
Remember while you praise the woman who delivered justice in Najib's case that Malaysian women are still discriminated against and deprived of their human right to confer their nationality to their children.
Justice should be consistent.
@imraphael
PH may be negligent, but PN will absolutely be hostile. Muhyiddin Yassin is the minister who banned UNHCR from access to detention centres when he was PH home minister back in 2019.
It's laughable to me that some are shocked that some Malaysians are literally saying they want to pick and choose which refugees they want to help based on nationality and skin colour. Go ask an Indian Malaysian how this country treats them.
Ismail Sabri mentioned Bangladeshi workers and Rohingya refugees in particular. But what about the "other" foreigners? the ones with lighter skin, don't they eat chicken too?
Ask a foreign worker and an "expat" about Malaysia, and hear the difference for yourself.
As Khairi Anwar is being charged in court this morning, Fahmi Fadzil will probably be busy preparing a corny message like his corny self to congratulate Michelle Yeoh on her next award and some corny quotes for the media about supporting local film industry. Clowns.
Happy to announce that we had a screening of M’sian film Mentega Terbang with students of
@MundusJourn
at the Danish School of Journalism.
We had a great discussion with the director Khairi Anwar about censorship, taboos in M’sia and the future for film makers in the country.
Basically, the Madani govt wants to use refugees for cheap exploitative labour force. Any plan that doesn't allow refugees to work according to their expertise is a discriminative plan. A doctor should work as a doctor and have the right to compete.
Experts slam proposal to limit refugees to dirty, dangerous & difficult jobs despite their skills.
“Should these people not be allowed to contribute to the economy in the capacity and ways they were trained to?” asked Dr.
@melatinungsari
.
My report.
Seen in the photo: Malaysia's foreign minister Saifuddin Abdullah smiling as wide as he can while holding a picture of Aylan Kurdi, a refugee child who died in the sea with his family trying to reach safety.
Malaysia still deprives refugees of all their basic human rights.
As a refugee, I've been called a "coward" for hundreds of times since I left my home country, and despite being a journalist I chose anonymity many times when I wrote to the media.
Anonymity should be a choice, it's not "Cowardice", it's a valid concern for every human being.
This is a good example of why many PN voters would never vote for PH regardless of how much they try to cater discriminative rhetoric to them at the expense of marginalized groups.
Will PH understand that rn u can't take votes from a fascist unless you become one?
1. Pasir Salak MP Jamaluddin Yahya has suggested that those in the LGBT community should be classified as having mental health issues.
He said this in the Dewan Rakyat, during the debate on the Mental Health (Amendment) Bill.
The system in Malaysia was built to trick the people into believing they are granted benefits by exploiting foreigners and discriminating against them.
Making foreigners pay more will not develop a proper transport system, one might suggest looking at the real problem instead.
Ismail Sabri becoming PM is the biggest middle finger to every Malaysian, migrant, and refugee who suffered from Muhyiddin's government incompetence.
God bless the dead.
You can't integrate when you're deprived of basic human rights. Refugees are not allowed to work or go to school or have proper access to healthcare. I want to see you integrate in a country where you're treated less than a human. So easy to talk shit when you're privileged af.
I was speaking to a migrant friend this morning about the current political chaos in Malaysia. When I asked him who's the best candidate for PM in his opinion, he laughed.
"For us, nothing will change," he said.
It's the weekend guys, go out with your families, do a run, play some games, or have a nice dinner, don't waste your precious time barking xenophobia and racism in my inbox 😂😂
I'm going out for a nice dinner now, bye ❤️
Look at their faces, look at this mother holding her child, this is the reality of oppression.
Don't you dare talk about oppression in other places of the world when this happens here every day. Migrants are not criminals.
#migranjugamanusia
What’s funny is those asking me “is it better in Syria?”
My brother in Allah why do you want to compare your government to a regime that murdered and brutalised its own people? Is that an ambition of yours or what?
Wait until all the lefty kids and diaspora social media heroes realize a lot of Palestinians are displaced to Idlib because of Assad’s crimes.
The stupid binary thinking of these “anti-imperialists” is hilarious.
Thousands of Syrians rally in the city of Idlib, northern Syria, in a massive show of support for the Palestinian people amid the ongoing Israeli war of genocide on Gaza.
This also means the online help desk wasn't doing anything effective to help users. I contacted the helpdesk twice last year when I had problems with the app, never received a response.
I may not be Malaysian, but Malaysia has been my home for 4 years now. I share the same concerns, rage, and disappointment that millions of Malaysians feel today.
Power to the people of Malaysia 🇲🇾
#LAWAN
First of all Ilah (إله) means "a god" not "The god". Arabs for centuries and even before Islam used Allah to refer to God. It's the Arabic word for god and that's a fact.
The last thing I need is a Malaysian trying to give me lessons in my own language. The audacity
I still don't understand why Sajat is being chased like a criminal. She did nothing, she literally did nothing.
In Malaysia you could be arrested just for being.
My take on this girl’s take on the girl’s question to Anwar:
• there’s no “suitable” time for a question about racial supremacy in Malaysia. You will always be silenced if you ask.
• Pressure is not an excuse for shit governance and communication.
• Stop bootlicking.
My take on the girl's question to Anwar:
• The timing of the question is not suitable. Anwar is under pressure pre-election.
• His answer may decide his PM position and the vote result.
• Anwar needs to remain calm and answer it professionally. Smart people won't vote for PN.
After GE14 I tweeted that a PH led govt is still a better option or a "lesser evil" for many marginalised communities here.
I apologise for my stupid take. I am so sorry.
A “journalist” is trying to report OP to the police for sharing a document.
OP did not write the document or had anything to do with it, just shared information that is important to the public.
I guess sharing info is a crime in the Madani era.
The new Agong was said to have committed crimes, including raping a woman and physically assaulting a police officer and an ADUN (current MP for Labis), between 1986-1991.

It's funny when Malaysians want to teach me, an Arabic native speaker, what the meaning of the word "اضربوهن" means. The text is clear, you're just too scared to say that you disagree with a part of the book.
1. PH promised work rights to refugees in GE14 manifesto and then backpedaled.
2. PH banned UNHCR from access to detention centres in 2019.
3. Current govt is still arresting migrant children.
All 3 are facts. PH surely talks nice, but still waiting for action in this case.
@wqarssifi94
This is old news, but since you brought this one issue up, may i remind you that there are others in PH that fought your fight - when it comes to migrants. Inability to be objective huh? Some personal vendetta clouded your judgement?
less than 2 years ago, many mosques in Malaysia banned foreigners esp. Rohingya muslims from entering and literally put out a "No Rohingya" sign. You can use COVID as an excuse but we all know the ideology behind it.
Also read this, it might help you:
Stupid fanatics’ feelings should be hurt intentionally all the time, however, Khairi as an artist was trying to do the exact opposite and start a needed conversation. What a joke of a charge and rule of law.
Mohd Khairianwar Jailani and Tan Meng Kheng, director and producer of the film 'Mentega Terbang' charged w intentionally hurting the religious feelings of others, under Sec 298 of the Penal Code.
If guilty they can be jailed for a year, fined or both.
While Malaysian leaders rally support for the Palestinian struggle, the same Malaysian leaders consistently diregard the rights and dignity of the hundreds of Palestinian refugees living in the country.
My article for
@NewNaratif
My only cabinet take: I hope that
@saifnasution
will lead Malaysia to finally commit to the PH promises to refugees and push for law to provide refugees the right to work and access education.
I also hope he will abolish the nonsensical plans to shut down UNHCR.
Maybe this is a good time to listen to Palestinians and what they think of all of this instead of us lecturing them from safety. They are the ones suffering apartheid and colonisation and they have the only right to speak now. Let’s listen to them.
My latest for
@AJEnglish
on the Tracking Refugees Information System (TRIS) scheme and the major concerns it raises on the security of refugees' information in Malaysia.
If there’s anything I learned from living in Syria’s dystopia and Malaysia’s democracy is that the only people who can afford to be apolitical or wait for slow incremental changes are those who the system serves very well, whether personally or collectively as a group.
Riots in detention centres don't happen out of nowhere. Riots are the result of inhumane treatment and abusive detention circumstances. Malaysian media should focus on questioning the reasons that caused the riot instead of promoting vigilante action against migrants.
Now that
@anwaribrahim
is PM and promises to lead a government for all, we need to remind
@pakatanharapan_
of their commitment to refugees in GE14. We hope that a government for all grants refugees and asylum seekers their basic human rights to work and access education.
This is what
@pakatanharapan_
promised refugees in 2018. It never happened.
PH disappointed us, but the BN government wants to close UNHCR & force us to be a part of a surveillance system that sees us as criminals.
The fate of marginalised groups lies in the hands of your votes.
With her bigotry, Siti Kasim exposes how fake the activism scene is in Malaysia. She has been enabled and endorsed repeatedly by the rest of the activism cartel in Malaysia.
Remember just because some people are against PAS, they are not necessarily right!
The real irony is that people like Siti Kasim are called human rights activists in Malaysia, people who accuse civilians escaping terrorism of "breeding" terrorist ideologies in "secular" countries.
Human rights boleh :)
This is PH for you, guys. Kota Anggerik voters & voters in constituencies where PH is running, think hard before you cast your vote. Only a few days into the campaign & they’re already melting under pressure. Imagine how they would be 5 years in govt (they collapsed in 2 years).
This is MUDA for you, guys. Bukit Gasing voters & voters in constituencies where MUDA is running, think hard before you cast your vote. Only less than 2 weeks into the campaign & they’re already melting under pressure. Imagine how they would be 5 years in government.
"Did you die tho?" — literally some Malaysian elites and Journalists when you tell them about institutionalised oppression and the need for Identity protection when you criticise the system.
And yes, many died, ask the families of those who died in custody for no reason.
