Hot Take: a good show or film can’t be spoiled. If something’s value is dependent on a big reveal or plot twist, then it’s just a gimmick and not good storytelling.
Today's video (made with help from Gerrit Krueper, who did a PhD on the topic) is on political streaming on twitch/YouTube, and the question of whether or not it's influence has an offline political effect.
Hitting YouTube in thirty minutes!
Getting an odd amount of “pretty ironic that Wisecrack makes videos with anti-capitalist themes and then does ads for capitalist companies” comments lately.
These comments always seem to ignore that the economic conditions of digital media are dictated by . . . capitalism.
It's our 4th Anniversary! Thank you so much for subscribing to us on YouTube, for being our patrons, and following us! We couldn't do any of this without you!
Congrats to Matt Walsh for releasing a movie about how much he wishes he could say the n-word.
And congrats to the tens of people around the world enjoying the movie in theaters.
Today’s video is on the death of the adult animation industry. Come for the analysis and stay for Michael’s unhinged rant against his mom’s boyfriend, Dale.
Since YouTube restricted our video on American Political Violence, we're uploading it here so more folks can check it out.
Share if you find it useful, and let us know what you think.
It's our tenth birthday.
From the bottom of our anxious hearts . . . thank you so much for all your support over the years.
We love getting to do this, and we love the community that's been on this journey with us.
Reading books is for losers who are afraid to learn from life.
So they try and learn from the life OTHERS have lived.
But you never REALLY learn unless you lived it.
You must feel it to believe it.
Books are a total waste of time.
Education for cowards.
Man, remember when
@Wisecrack
posted interesting and neutral philosophical and psychological analysis using popular culture as a springboard? You know, before it was just one endless lefty shibboleth post on YouTube after another…?
Pepperidge Farms remembers.
Recently James Lindsay has argued that Kamala Harris is a Marxist satanist. And Jordan Peterson argued that Marx is a satanist. And also that Harris is a communist.
Is any of this . . . . true? Of course not, but we couldn't help make a reaction video. Link below.
Tomorrow we're introducing a new host - Kris!
Kris is a professor of video games at Ryerson University. He'll be helping us create awesome video game content in the future but is on regular hosting duty in the meantime. He's also very good at Street Fighter.
If there a name for the phenomenon where people (often in tech) articulate a well-known idea from the humanities as if they're inventing it for themselves?
(example: Sam Altman thinking he invented emergent materialism.)

Every time we say we're never talking about Jordan Peterson again, he goes and puts out a video where he gives embarrassingly bad readings of philosophers like Foucault and Marx.
He makes us do it.
We’re starting work on a new video and wondering if charity or good deeds done for the sake of clicks and algorithmic success have real moral value.
What do y’all think?
Because we've been getting into some contentious topics in recent videos, we've decided to step back and talk about something non-controversial that everyone agrees on in tomorrow's video.
It's on the politics of gender theory.
Journalists who cover Elon Musk have been suspended on Twitter tonight:
@Donie
O'Sullivan from CNN, Aaron Rupar and the Washington Post's
@drewharwell
.
Rupar tells me he has "no idea" why it happened.
If you're a big fan of Jordan Peterson and James Lindsay, and think that their respective readings of Marx bring a clarity and precision to the interpretation of his work that far exceed those offered by academics and scholars . . . . you're going to HATE today's video.
It’s our ninth birthday! Thanks for helping us get this old, which is increasingly uncommon in digital media.
To help us celebrate, share some of your favorite Wisecrack memories from the last nine years, and/or what you hope to see from us in the next nine!
