What a day. At our improptu leaving lunch/gathering with Y11, the head boy finished with this: ‘I want to say that some of the students think this is the end, but this is the beginning of our real lives guys’. We wish them all the best as they navigate these troubling times.

Huge congratulations to our Sixth form students today receiving their A level and BTEC results. We are very proud of our students, who on average gained a C grade for A level subjects. We have students going off to University to study Medicine, Criminology, Business. Well done!

Introducing Washwood Heath Academy’s new Houses: Farah, Plaza and Seacole house, the students have responded very enthusiastically to their new Houses!
Students will be awarded HEART points for good and positive behaviour for the termly House Competition.
The view from my duty position this morning - a beautiful autumnal feeling about the day. Great to see our students still respecting the arrangements we have in place to keep everyone safe and acting in such a mature manner throughout.
Heartlands staff were very grateful for the donation and were amazed at the efforts the students went to.
Students were able to speak with some of the nurses, patients & families which made the whole experience real for them.

A fabulous ceremony, located on the site,. We aim to provide the highest possible standards of education and support for our pupils. They will have opportunities to work and learn within the community to prepare them for their future role as valued members of society.
Today some of our KS2 children attended a School Games Multi-sports event. The children got to play some sports that they had never tried before including curling, goalball and sitting down volleyball. They had a great time and worked really hard.

Y9 students took part in the Amey Cup Challenge. Our girls performed really well, designed the best project and delivered their presentation to 40-50 people which included Senior Engineers and Directors of Amey.
Thrilled to say we WON the cup!

Massively lucked out with the weather for our first whole school sports day since the pandemic. Great to be back doing large whole school events like these!!
14 Boys 3 staff a lot of laughs and memories made. Many fears overcome and several hours of studying completed. All home safe and sounds from the Yr 11 PGL study weekend!
How many of you recognise this sort of picture...?! Our testing team is working flat out today, with Year 8 phased return and second tests for the whole of Y13 and Y11. A phenomenal effort and the students have been amazing!
Washwood Heath Primary has been awarded the School Games Award for 21/22. It has been fantastic to see students develop both in P.E lessons and at school games competitions
Today we attended the biggest girls football event at King Edwards School. We got to compete in 5-a-side matches, play on inflatables and meet some VIPs, Faye White and Laura Basset. It was an inspirational day and lots and lots of fun!

Proud to play our National Games of Remembrance football match this evening. It was a close game, with the lots of chances at both ends. 1-0 the final result. Thanks to all who organised and supported.
Mr Ahmed now teaches here at Washwood Heath Academy, and we’re pleased to say he’s already helping some of our stammering students to find their voices with confidence too.
A year on from the start of the first lockdown, we are pausing for a moment of reflection. We are also tying yellow ribbons to a tree of remembrance, as we think about those we have lost.
Today some of year 3 and 4 students attended a school games event. The children played lots of basketball mini games. They represented the school brilliantly and showed the Washwood way throughout.

On Tuesday a group of KS2 children went to a school games athletics competition. They worked extremely hard and managed to win a bronze medal and come 3rd place. They did really well and loved wearing their new Washwood kit

On Tuesday, some of our KS2 students attended dodgeball comp ran by the school games. It saw the children focus on values such as honesty, determination and teamwork. With 2 of our students being picked to receive an honesty badge for demonstrating characteristics

On Monday, some KS2 pupils had the opportunity to attend a commonwealth event lead by Bring the Power. Children had the opportunity to meet a professional boxer,meet Perry,the mascot for the games and play lots of different sports. Children had a fantastic day

Some of our Sixth Form students hosted a lovely Jubilee tea party which was attended by Pete Weir, WHMAT CEO. These students have been baking all year and donating cakes to the church next door for their afternoon teas. Well done guys!
After the Prime Minister’s address, we’ll get clarification from the DFE and our MAT next week on getting pupils back into school safely and when. We’ll let you know when the details are in place. Until then, arrangements for Washwood remain the same as they have been to date.
