Cards on the table, I’m a train driver, I’m on 0k a year because I'm 5. This is an orchestrated coup by teachers and grownups to stop me spending every second of every day on the railway. For the record, I was awarded a bag of chocolate buttons in May.

I ❤️ it when his patience and understanding is rewarded. He was gutted when we missed the Pullman earlier, but he held it together. Then we realised that we could leave our train at Newport and maybe see it again. One very happy little boy. Perfect end to our #HST day 😊

Good morning London. After a perfect run from Penzance, we arrived into Paddington at 05:02. Breakfast was delivered at exactly 06:00 as requested (sausage baps) and we are allowed to remain on board until 06:45. We both slept really well! Time to freshen up 😁

Half an hour on a busy voyager with no seats so we upgraded to first for £7.50. Just enough time to quaff a hot chocolate and these snacks. Worth the upgrade cost alone!!

We were allowed to choose the location for a family picnic today. After careful consideration, we went for Needham lake in Suffolk because of the beautiful scenery and wildlife and definitely not because the Pullman HST was due to pass through 😁 #hst #pullman #class43

Sometimes, you can spend ages trying to find a particular train and nothing turns up. Other times, you can be settling down to your dinner and spot this out of the corner of your eye! His first #class70 up close and bonus thrash and toot from the driver too.

A lovely run up the WCML with @AvantiWestCoast all the way from Carlisle. We were on board for around 3 1/2 hours but we both agreed that it felt much less! Austin was surprised when I told him to pack his things away 🤣 we'll be back in a couple of weeks for more adventures 😁

We have been very fortunate to be able to see all 3 retro liveried XC #HST power cars recently. Top to bottom is 43007 in original IC125, 43184 in IC Executive and finally 43008 in IC Swallow. Three iconic BR liveries! Enjoy them while you can, soon they will be memories!

Here we are then, a ride on one of the finest trains (in our humble opinion!) We are taking the Chiltern #class68 and Mk3 'silver set' all the way to Birmingham. Hopefully we'll be able to make take advantage of one of the railways best kept secrets 😉
