The Prophet has called for a churchwide fast this Sunday. Someone pointed me to this section of the dedicatory prayer of the Salt Lake Temple, uttered April 6, 1893.
BYU fans on Twitter trying to convince me the Rose Bowl isn’t an absolute lifelong fan dream come true is the worst attempt at gaslighting I’ve ever seen. *IF* the Utes make it, it will be the best story in all of College Football in 2021, hard stop.
The truth is Omicron is out of control everywhere. Even in places with mask and vaccine mandates. We always push vaccines, but even vaccinated ppl are catching it. It’s easy to take shots from the cheap seats but this is the sort of nonsense that makes editorial boards irrelevant
I think it’s great that BYU goes out of its way to make visiting fans feel welcome. If you think it’s weird, and kindness is jarring to you, maybe that’s on you.
I feel like my Twitter feed has devolved into BYU and Utah fans highlighting each other’s bottom 10%. It’s getting old. Going to rise above the fray. Half my friends are BYU fans and absolute legends. Half are Utah fans and absolute legends. The fray is a waste of my time.
We couldn’t find our 13 yr old son last night. It was getting late and he hadn’t come home. Wasn’t responding to texts & calls. As worry set in, my wife suddenly remembered she herself physically drove him to the church and dropped him off to go camping with the scouts. 🤦🏻♂️
Things I don’t want to see for the rest of the Utah Football season:
1) a defender meeting the handoff in the backfield
2) kickoff team giving up a touchdown
3) missed PAT
This is a big blow to my loyalty to college football in its current/new state. Losing an RB1 to another team due to money just really sucks. If this repeats several times, I’m not sure my passion for the sport can withstand it.
Utah running back Ja’Quinden Jackson has entered the transfer portal,
@chris_hummer
and I have learned for
@247sports
.
Jackson, a former top recruit who began his college career as a QB at Texas, rushed for 797 yards for the Utes this season.
Some personal news: after getting laid off at Divvy last month, I’ve accepted an offer from a Bay Area tech company and I’ll be WFH covering the Utah and Colorado markets. Feeling very blessed.
My son and his buddies got caught water ballooning last night by the po-po. After a stern lecture the cop asked the boys “any questions?” And they said “yeah can we get a group photo with you?” 🤦🏻♂️🙄😂
@DrShayPhD
Let this be a lesson to us all. We can’t allow an inefficient & immoral Government to hold our money interest free for 18+ months. Increase the withholdings on your W4 and set the difference aside in a savings account. When you file, pay your tax liability from your own savings.
I love the way
@jlinehan9
is all in on the 4th & 19 joke. He’s also the last person to remind anyone that one play doesn’t define a career which included a Ray Guy watch list, 76 punts inside the 20, 30 kicks >50 yds, and 3 rugby Natty’s. Respect from this Utah fan.
My 18 year marriage is going through a serious trial right now but I have faith we will get through it. Heaven help us until this
@IKEAUSA
dresser is complete.
Can’t help but place blame on Larry Scott for all these flaming pile of crap takes about Utah coming from outside the PAC-12 footprint. It’s obvious no one has watched them play. Most their games were on the
@Pac12Network
which no one has.
One of the most remarkable things about this season is a team that has gone 1-9 vs their rival has single-handedly turned the Pac 10.2 into the PAC-13 in one season.
You've heard of being Friend-Zoned. I had a crush on this girl in my ward and started hanging with her, and we ran into an old friend of hers. When she introduced me, she said: "This is my...neighbor". I got Neighbor-Zoned ☠️. This weekend we celebrate 19 years of marriage.
Next week, both College GameDay and Big Noon Kickoff will be in Boulder for Deion Sanders and Colorado's rivalry game against Colorado State.
It will be College GameDay's first trip to CU in 27 years.
Damn, BYU fans get so triggered by Kyle Whittingham. The guy can’t say a single benign comment without them losing their minds. Weird. It’s not that deep, you guys. You’re just soft.
My wife is an artist, and over the years I’d estimate about half her commissioned portraits feature a person that has died. A thought occurred to me that when someone dies, all the photos that will ever exist for that person have been taken. A painting brings a new perspective.
Someone explain to me why early kickoffs for PAC-12 games would be a bad thing. No fans in stadium, so it’s a pure television event. 9AM Pacific is Noon Eastern. Prime national TV slot. No one watches PAC-12 after dark. Most of the country is sleeping. I think it’s smart.
Here's an excellent and completely unbiased side by side historical comparison of BYU football and UofU football. Utes are winning in a few categories...

I will probably disagree with many, if not most, of President Biden’s policy actions. But I sincerely look forward to having someone in the White House that has decorum, respect, and character.
The scriptures have prophesied so many things correctly: earthquakes, sickness, famine, pestilence, tsunamis, floods, but big miss on the cancelation of college football.
@lancewarchibald
Nah man, this stuff needs to be socially condemned. This is a team effort, and it only takes events like that to ruin it for everyone else making serious sacrifices. That was reckless and a very bad look.
I'll be at Rice Eccles Stadium (the "data desert") in my season ticket seats without any access to any of these other games because
@MarkHarlan_AD
won't get decent wifi in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty three.
These amazing games are all on at the same time…
1:30pm MT ESPN: BYU vs Kansas
1:30pm MT CBS: Alabama vs Ole Miss
1:30pm MT Fox: Utah vs UCLA
1:30pm MT ABC: Colorado vs Oregon
Here is my planned multi-view setup:
On some level, this Pac-12 championship game represents the biggest threat to Kyle Whittingham's program in 18 years.
USC is everything Utah isn't. Does a loss tonight mean Whittingham's model can no longer work?
I'm grateful for my job. I was unemployed for a few weeks this summer, and it is a constant unsettling ache. Work and reward, sowing and reaping --it's at the core of who we are.
#givethanks
This is the type of line Cam has to have to beat a team like Oregon on the road. Also this is the last game he played great. Something’s been off ever since.
The BYU acceptance rate bragging has to stop. Acceptance rate in higher ed is often a barometer for how elite a school is, like Harvard or Stanford. But that metric doesn’t apply to BYU, because it has built-in demand of 100,000 LDS kids across the globe. It’s not the same.
I learned from
@World_Wide_Wob
that NBA players intentionally shoot those long court shots just after the buzzer to protect their FG%. Mitchell just did it in 3Q. Rookie has already caught on.
My daughter set a hot pizza box on our wood table and it created this heat stain. Won’t rub off. I YouTubed a fix: cover with a thin cloth and run a hot iron over it until it magically disappears.
Sunday morning ride - Antelope Island on a motorcycle hits different. I’ve lived in west Davis County for 20 years and have never fully appreciated it until this morning.
