Conservatives have a natural skepticism of government, which is where their conspiracy theories originate. Liberals place a lot of faith in authority, and so are more apt to adopt state-sponsored conspiracy theories, provided they are backed by “experts.”

In the weeks following the 2020 presidential election, both Sydney Powell and Dominion Voting Systems claimed to know the outcome; the difference between them is that in Sydney Powell’s case, the process she used to derive her conclusions is a matter of public record.

The benefit of the mob is that people need to *see* something really, really terrible happen to him in order to deter people from doing this in the future
For the few people who don't already know this:
1. VAERS is not a database of VERIFIED vaccination injuries.
2. VAERS is a database of REPORTED and POSSIBLE injuries.
3. In a pandemic, VAERS morphs into a database of mass hysteria sprinkled with credible data.

"I don't want to get COVID." Same thing the CNN guy said in the James O'Keefe interview.
They're using COVID to create a safe space around themselves irl.
@CountDankulaTV
There is no perceived risk to wearing a seatbelt, so the risk/reward ratio is in favor of wearing one. If seatbelts were causing myocarditis, there would be a similar lack of compliance.

Every precedent you accept (but only against the bad guys!) will eventually be turned against you.
Ironically (or presciently), The Patriot Act spelled out its end at its inception.
@philthatremains
She’s using “talking” as a euphemism for casual sex. She’s simply saying she wishes casual sex wasn’t normalized, because women engage in it in hopes of a committed relationship, but it rarely (if ever) works out that way. I, like, totally get it
@JesseKellyDC
I don’t think this will go over well, even in California. I know multiple (some left-leaning) parents who got the shot themselves, but declined to have their children get it due to the unknown risks.

In my understanding, systemic racism refers to ingrained, long-term disadvantages that are cumulative, pervasive, and insidious.
In other words, almost every example of what one might call regular racism would be explained to be the end result of systemic racism.
@Cernovich
Growing up, I used to write in notebooks all the time. Both cursive and regular. Since switching to the notes app around 10 years ago, have noticed that now when I try to write it looks like a third grader did it

Counterpoint: The health of any democracy is best measured by the ability of its citizens (and elected officials) to question the democratic process without fear of censorship and retribution.
@AlexBerenson
Why is the vaccine less effective against variants? Isn’t the MRNA vaccine just creating the hallmark spike protein that makes COVID COVID? And wouldn’t that same spike protein be present in all variants of the coronavirus?
@celestialbe1ng
They could also just buy a chuck roast (gelatinous example) when on sale and have a week's worth of meals for around $5 per meal, but the problem is most don't know how to cook. I meal prep every week; six days worth of food usually costs around $60-$80, or $5ish per serving
“Experts say…”
“The Science says…”
“Fact checkers confirm…”
All three are a fake “because”.
Authoritarianism requires establishing authority: first informational, then moral, and ultimately, physical.
@pattonoswalt
When the polio vaccine dropped the US government had just toppled Nazi Germany, the news served to inform the public, and we weren’t mainlining propaganda. Vaccine hesitancy isn’t a measure of our declining intelligence; it’s a measure of our increasing distrust in institutions.
@Aella_Girl
That’s because most sober conversations are boring af. I just ask people questions and let them talk about themselves, since that’s what they want the most anyways. I view it as a public service.
