What is the most important thing in the fight for survival against climate change? 1. More solar? 2. Wind? 3. Degrowth? or. 4. Fighting the propaganda that has meant that 99% of people believe that the above will cost each and everyone of us $000's in additional tax payments?

We are told that governments can fund in 3 ways: - Tax people - Borrow money from people - Issue new money. This is incorrect. The only possible way is to issue new money. It is impossible to fund, using tax or borrowing. WHY is this?.....

There are 2 reasons why governments 'borrow'. 1. To provide a 100% secure, fixed rate interest income to those who have money. 2. Propaganda - to provide credible sounding reasons to the ignorant majority why the government don't want to fund many, usually socialist, policies.

MMT strength, is it removes the "How are you going to pay for it" lie. MMT doesn't mean you can cut tax, or tax the rich less. In many ways MMT justifies taxing the rich much more as it removes the " BUT..the 1% already pay 26% of all funding, isn't that enough?" argument.

What if, When the gold standard was abolished, governments used their power of currency creation (MMT) to heap riches on those who lobbied governments the most, while hurting the poor, grinding them into submission. This is why the rich dont want you to know about MMT.

This is MMT. It's exactly what is going on. Just simplified. But, the thing is, when put this way, Riski Sunek can no longer show how much the country is in debt, and how 'Difficult decisions need to be made' And thats why they overcomplicate. To pull the wool over our eyes.

@GeorgeMonbiot x. Find out about how fiat currency economies work, so that people know that lame excuses like 'Green new Deal is Unaffordable!' - is 100% bullshit.

There is much wrong with this MMT line, as much there is right. Yes, MMT needs to be known about by everyone, in order to get past the brainwashing. However, the idea we should not tax the rich because we do not need the money, is not what MMT says at all. ...

Understanding MMT is VITAL for any successful left politics in America because MMT is one of the only economic frameworks that acknowledges that taxes don’t fund Federal spending. No left political platform that insists on raising taxes will succeed in the USA, with its deep

Hmmmm..... Either I am in a very clever echo chamber, or MMT has spread like wildfire. Every article I see posted on twitter that talks about not enough tax to pay for stuff, has MMTers outside my circle, correcting it. Good Times. We're building an army. #learnMMT

This is not, at all, what MMT is. This is 'Quantitive Easing', created by mainstream economists. MMT has never *ever* recommended QE.

@tonywestonuk @DEhnts When I say “print money” what I mean is “the Fed buys treasury debt”. I do think that is an accurate description of MMT.

@JujuliaGrace We, on the left, can never move forward while people think the government has no money, and has to borrow or tax us in order to spend. Thats a Thatcher trope. Its propaganda designed to turn people away from good public services, exactly what the right wing want.

@AaronBastani 99% of people believe that if you cut government spending, people will be better off in the pocket. No attempt at challenging this myth has happened, but while people believe the myth, society will slowly drift rightwards. Thatchers legacy lives on, even the left believe it.

This makes me feel sick. We know, for certain, right now that the Bank of England tries to maintain a certain level of unemployment to manage inflation. Add to this a policy of removing all benefits after a year out of work. The only thing this can lead to - Mass destitution.

The joke "I am afraid there is no money.", is laughing at the public, who have no idea how public finances work. It is, actually, true. There is no money. The Labour government finished its term, with no money, and the Tories also have no money. There is no money.....

@Change2Win Jeff bezos has given those workers (who sleep in tents), jobs they would otherwise not have. You have to ask, *why* they would not have jobs. Why are they so desperate. Why can amazon get away with not paying a good wage? Then you realise, its the government who've caused it

MMT Says the Gov uses violence to make currency valuable. MMT Says the Gov is extracting wealth from you, and is putting many people in poverty. Anti-MMTrs want to put a mask around these government activities, because typically they speak for those who benefit from above.

Ultimately, yes. That is why we need to understand MMT. Those people on here, who say MMT is false, They are the ones that want power over you. They're usually connected with the IEA, or Cato think tanks. Or they're some wealth investment broker. Trying to keep us dumm.

As software developers, *we are trained* to dig deep into systems, in order to model those systems in code to be run in a computer. The fiat monetary system, is just another system. You'll find plenty of MMTers also write software - We don't listen to superstitious nonsense.

MMT says that tax's are destroyed. There is much pushback from the MMT deniers, who insist that the money is in an account, which is used to spend. But, this account (consolidated fund, the Fed TGA) contains no money, ever, according to the pure definition. Only numbers.

So, where's the money gone then, which was handed over as part of tax, or in return for a gilt? The essence of what made it money, has been stripped away, is no longer there. All that remains is a number And there is nothing the government can do about it.

MMT deniers are climate change deniers. There is a pattern here shared by these charlatans. And a common root - They want it believed that the way things are now, is the natural order. Nothing is wrong, and nothing can be done about it.

@alqamar30 @GeorgieSpirit Its not that MMT comes to the rescue. MMT is there all the time. Its just when there isn't a crisis, we get fed total bullshit that the government coffers are empty, difficult decisions, and so on, and its repeated again and again one big echo chamber.
