This is MMT. It's exactly what is going on. Just simplified. But, the thing is, when put this way, Riski Sunek can no longer show how much the country is in debt, and how 'Difficult decisions need to be made' And thats why they overcomplicate. To pull the wool over our eyes.

This is not, at all, what MMT is. This is 'Quantitive Easing', created by mainstream economists. MMT has never *ever* recommended QE.

@tonywestonuk @DEhnts When I say “print money” what I mean is “the Fed buys treasury debt”. I do think that is an accurate description of MMT.

This makes me feel sick. We know, for certain, right now that the Bank of England tries to maintain a certain level of unemployment to manage inflation. Add to this a policy of removing all benefits after a year out of work. The only thing this can lead to - Mass destitution.

@Change2Win Jeff bezos has given those workers (who sleep in tents), jobs they would otherwise not have. You have to ask, *why* they would not have jobs. Why are they so desperate. Why can amazon get away with not paying a good wage? Then you realise, its the government who've caused it

Ultimately, yes. That is why we need to understand MMT. Those people on here, who say MMT is false, They are the ones that want power over you. They're usually connected with the IEA, or Cato think tanks. Or they're some wealth investment broker. Trying to keep us dumm.

As software developers, *we are trained* to dig deep into systems, in order to model those systems in code to be run in a computer. The fiat monetary system, is just another system. You'll find plenty of MMTers also write software - We don't listen to superstitious nonsense.

MMT says that tax's are destroyed. There is much pushback from the MMT deniers, who insist that the money is in an account, which is used to spend. But, this account (consolidated fund, the Fed TGA) contains no money, ever, according to the pure definition. Only numbers.

So, where's the money gone then, which was handed over as part of tax, or in return for a gilt? The essence of what made it money, has been stripped away, is no longer there. All that remains is a number And there is nothing the government can do about it.

@alqamar30 @GeorgieSpirit Its not that MMT comes to the rescue. MMT is there all the time. Its just when there isn't a crisis, we get fed total bullshit that the government coffers are empty, difficult decisions, and so on, and its repeated again and again one big echo chamber.
