A tired labourer working in a flat a few floors below came up with a bottle asking for drinking water. Said no one on that floor or 1-2 above below gave so he climbed up. What sort of behaviour is this in such merciless heat? People can't fill a 2lt bottle for a thirsty worker?

I miss the small tandoors Delhi colonies had. We would take dough, get rotis made, sometimes buy freshly made daal too. Nothing else was sold there. I think we paid 10 paise per roti if the dough was ours. Tadka daal was 5 Rs a plate.There was such warmth of love in that space

My Aaji (grandmother) on her wedding day , June 1929. She did her BSc from Ferguson College. Stayed in a hostel in Pune during schooling and married a man of her choice much against the community. The father (her only parent) supported the decision of his only child. I miss her.

Before I hit the bed thought of sharing this. We lost my nephew to covid complications on April 22nd. He was the most loving, compassionate person. A nature lover & an excellent photographer too. Here's a corner dedicated to him under the beautiful Banyan tree at @sundernursery .

Met mom at the ICU & gave her mother's day kiss. At 93 in the midst of many critical patients like her she is trying to hold on to life. Held my hand, told what she ate. Said, experiments r being done on her & she wants to be home. One of the most resilient women I know..hard day

Unless you are financially independent it's very difficult to leave a toxic home, maternal or marital.There are no safe places for women to go.Going back to maternal home is usually bad idea for many. It is not your home once you're married off. Toxic siblings add to the trauma.

UP style kadhi is different from the Punjabi kadhi.These feather light phulouri or pakodi that soak of the tangy liquid are the game changer in this slow simmer dish. No onion garlic but a baghar of generous whole red chilies&spices+a sprinkle of homemade garam masala at the end.

@ManjiriIndurkar Hugs Manjiri. It took me approx 40+ yrs to tell my mother. It spilled out 1 day as we watched an episode of Satyamev Jayate. My elder son & she were there. I just began to narrate. They listened in silence. U wouldn't believe what her response was. I wrote about it anon in 2012.
