Finally, some ✨professional news✨ from me this year: Today is my first day as a Temp Social Media Editor at
@WWD
where I’ll be covering for a maternity leave for a few months! I’m so excited to be in a newsroom again and will be milking my 15 minutes of employment accordingly!!
Here's some ✨personal news✨ from me to get you through this Monday: After nearly 3 months of being laid off, I'm joining
@LinkedIn
/
@LinkedInNews
as a News Editor in 2 weeks! I am absolutely ready to get back to work and begin my tech girlie era! 💅🏻
New season, new job: Today is my ✨first official day✨ as a News Editor at
@LinkedIn
/
@LinkedInNews
! I have nothing else to add from my initial announcement except AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
Personal news that every journalist dreads sharing: After 3 years at Adweek, I was laid off today. I'm so proud of all the work I did and I'm forever grateful for the people I worked with, some of whom have become lifelong friends. But let's be real, this still SUCKS!
Some 💫 professional 💫 news: I'm now a News and Engagement Editor at
@Adweek
! In addition to editing stories and assisting with social media, I'm editing newsletters AND carving out a new beat by writing about the intersection of marketing and culture. AHHH!!! 🥳
Happy Last Day of Being Verified to every journalist who celebrates! Yes, it's silly to care about a little checkmark, but it makes a HUGE difference when you have it.
@daniellesinay
@TMZ
It’s insane that it took THIS long for anything to happen. Then again he apparently had a lot of friends in different police departments so that helped.
BREAKING: Today is my 30th birthday and I am obviously the first person to ever turn 30 and announce it on this site, so please shower me with attention or else I'll shrivel up and die!!! 🥳🎉
Some personal news: My contract role at LinkedIn has ended and I'm on the hunt again for a full-time job. I have 7 years of experience in writing, editing, and audience engagement, so send any leads my way!
I've lived a million lives in this industry, so here's what I can do 👇🏻
Time for a 💫 life update 💫: One of your favorite regular degular shmegular girls from the Bronx finally moved out of her parents' apartment this weekend!! This warranted a tweet because I legitimately never thought it would happen given the everything, but it did!! 🥰
Heeyyy it’s meee, once again asking that someone considers hiring me for a full-time role or editorial project within reporting, editing, or social media! The journalism job market has been particularly brutal, so begging for money on main is one of my few options!
PSA to all of the PR people who have reached out to me in the last few weeks: Thank you so much for reaching out and your kind words, but I'm actually not accepting any pitches! My new job is primarily focused on highlighting top news of the day!
Some ✨ professional news ✨ for Monday: I've been selected to be part of
@Poynter
's Lead With Influence's March cohort! This 4-week program is for women and non-binary journalists who lead newsroom initiatives but don't have direct reports and want to develop leadership skills.
Please respect my privacy at this time as I mourn over the fact that I'm losing my blue checkmark in a few days after spending years thirsting over it and filling out multiple verification applications!! 😤😢
Just discovered
@TaylorLorenz
's story about that time the CEO of HQ didn't want
@thedailybeast
to run a light-hearted profile of Scott Rogowsky and it is WILD.
If anyone’s wondering how I’m doing in my transitional period between unemployment and employment, the hardest thing I’ve had to do was explain to my parents — IN GREEK! — what LinkedIn is.
I am once again urging new reporters to just record all of their interviews because it's 2022 and you should ALWAYS have receipts in case someone tries to claim you misquoted them.
WOW I honestly didn't expect this tweet to blow up like this! I don't have anything to promote, so while we're on the topic of Michael J. Fox, you should take a look at all of the work his foundation is doing to find a cure for Parkinson's Disease.
Naturally, I'm available for hire now! I have 6 years of ~journalistic~ experience in audience engagement, writing, and editing, soooo take your pick because I have bills to pay and need insurance coverage!
Not to be all in my feelings, but watching Twitter get gutted like this is upsetting. This place has done more for my career growth than most jobs have, I've connected with more people here than I've gotten to IRL, and it's taught me more about journalism than any other platform.
~So I did a thiiiing~: I wrote my first ever digital cover for
@Adweek
! I talked to
@cthagod
about how he's using his current partnerships and deals to amplify Black creatives.
Adweek is free today so go ahead and read it here! 👇🏻
Now that I FINALLY have the option to restrict who replies to my tweets, it's time to share my hot take.
*Takes a deep breath*
Newsrooms should still make diversity and inclusion its top priority regardless of what's trending right now because we haven't forgotten about it!
I feel like every time a kid or baby goes viral for the wrong reasons or a parent posts something embarrassing/private about them, we need to revisit stories like this one from
@TaylorLorenz
.
I’m just a girl… standing in front of her blue checkmark… telling you it’s really hard for some of us to divorce our identities from what we do for a living, but we’re working on it.
Everything is horrible right now, so if you need a quick break from it, I wrote this
@Adweek
piece about r/Advertising School, a free 12-week program launching on
@reddit
this Monday that gives people a chance to learn about the industry from pros.
A year ago today, my life was upended when I was laid off from a steady full-time job. While I've had some incredible opportunities come my way (see my ✨pinned tweet✨for more), this is my quarterly thread ask for you to consider me for a full-time role or freelance project(s)!
I cannot even BEGIN to thank all of the people who supported me, championed my work, took calls with me, and even threw job referrals my way throughout my post-layoff era. I'm so unbelievably grateful to have the support system that I do. ❤️

To all of the PR people who generously send me pitches every day: I'm so grateful and I'm sorry I can't respond to every single email I get, but please don't email my personal gmail (which I don't have publicly listed anywhere as far as I know)!

I think people on here are forgetting that this air quality story is huge not only because it's happening in New York, but also because it's impacting 17 other states!!
GOOD news to share today: I'm a recipient of
@ONA
's Diversity and Inclusion scholarship to attend
@ONAConf
this year! 🥳
Opportunities like this mean the world to me as a first gen kid and I'm grateful for the chance to learn how to CONTINUE elevating other voices in my career!
