What’s broken with SF? Here’s another example. To ensure that I could renovate my house, I had to prove it wasn’t historic. There are 3 designations for SF homes: historic, not historic, unknown. If unknown, you need to prove it’s not historic so that you don’t have a hassle.

I’m in SF permitting hell. I submitted my original permit to renovate in February 2021. I’m now all approved except the sidewalk. They missed that I’m expanding my garage a few inches to fit a modern car. They are holding the permit. SF planning has now told me we’re at the

So I had to pay someone to research my house to prove it wasn’t historic and then pay SF planning $3,233 to review our historic assessment. Just another way for the SF government /rules to slow down progress and drive up costs. I’m confident there’s a better way that costs less

SF Planning is pushing people out of SF. We don't live a museum. Spoke with a former long-time SF resident who moved to Berkeley because his plans to build a 2nd floor for his growing family was rejected by planning. Took over a year to get rejected. Already approved in
