Not all of us made it. But, as June Jordan wrote in 2001, "Some of us did not die... Some of you, of us, remain, despite that hatred that violence that murder that suicide... And what shall we do now, we who did not die?How shall we grieve, and cry out loud, and face down despair?"

The thing about the mass disabling of the world is, we only become a radical political mass movement with power if people are willing to identify as disabled. And internalized ablism is a hell of a drug and often people’s only survival strategy- or so they think.

5. The massive disabled grief is huge and I don't feel like anyone is noticing except for other disabled people. People who have the privilege to afford to be in denial, and can survive that way, will.

Disabled grief - among other things, the particular ways we, as disabled people grieve when our kin are murdered or die is, like many disabled things, something there's not a ton of easily accessible writing about. I'm gonna write some stuff to try and change that.

13 months since I started work on The Future Is Disabled, I hit send on the final edited manuscript today, on the New Year of the Tiger, new moon in Aquarius. I pulled the cards Ace of Feathers (someone pulling a peacock feather from their throat w much effort) and Liberation.

@thrasherxy And as a disabled queer with not much immune system who has leaned heavily on Instacart for the past two years during high community spread times, I agree with her. I don't know what the solution is, but a corporation paying broke people pennies to breathe in Omicron is not it.

3. Their disabled histories of activism and survival skills are crucially needed- and many outside disabled/ chronically ill community don't know they exist.

the ability to write poetry/anything is in part supported by the right not to work all the time, and the ability to have work where one is able to take time off to be crazy or altered. i was discussing this with a friend the other day; its a very hard to advocate for access need

I wasn’t on here till last year because it gave me a panic attack. then @SFdirewolf told me that if I wanted to get certain writing opportunities I should check out disability Twitter. I don’t necc think it’s over but its something to watch the last minutes of the Roman empire.

I'm performing new work, creating a disabled grief transformation portal altar and generally reveling in being home with people I love here on 6/21 solstice, in NYC and online in the disabled free space.

4.There's a massive triple pandemic superstorm of mass disabled/elder/fat/BIPOC deaths, both directly from COVID & multiple layers of care denial/medical abuse. There will be no memorial statue in DC for us (except if we make one) & there will be no justice (except what we make.)

2. A lot of disabled people have already spoken about how the eugenic strikedowns of policies that collectively protected everyone are telling us that as disabled people we deserve to die. I agree. it’s also a big fuck you telling us we can never go out in public life again.

My tests are back and I don't have COVID but I do have a shitty virus and either way I'm not really leaving the house til February. #DisabledReality . Our disabled lives are not disposable but lack of collective action to ensure that sure makes them so.

Also, I wish my friends were alive to witness this book coming out, and that's the real brutal deal of writing as a disabled/ immunecompromised person during pandemic times.

so fb and IG are both down and everyone I know is hitting refresh on Gaza news. moving posts to here but ya, definitely a headsup about the end of social media as connectivity as we know it and needing to explore other forms of contact.
