ed sinking his leathers on a whim getting a job on a fishing boat on a whim leaving on a whim because he's too scared to follow the one thing that is NOT a whim
the contrast of ed not being cut out for customer service vs stede being the most patient person ever in the face of the worst customers ever is so perfect and clever and also such a cool way to say so much about who they are (or think they are) as people with so little.
i love your chin, naked or otherwise.
π₯Ί
ed...
don't.
i love --
no, don't. you don't get to say that to me...π
i love everything about you.
hmph
you don't have to say it back.
i'm not about to...π...π
i love being near you. it's nice. feels good. breathing the same air.
π₯Ή
the fact that we get a different take for this scene in season 2 has to be intentional.
stede's perspective is slightly different than ed's. he doesn't see the breath ed takes, the batting eyelashes. the way ed is completely besotted with him.
that was ed's point of view.
I'm going to just say this and not to be mean but I really think we should all make an effort today to *literally* touch grass. I wanna see selfies of you lying in your lawn, walking in nature, taking in fresh air, sitting by the beach. whatever it is.

Stede Bonnet - a high school teacher whose life is falling to pieces around him - finds escape, comfort, friendship, and more in online fandom.
This is my love letter to you, my fellow fans. Long may we stan. π
i hope when stede meets mary read he says "my ex-wife's name is mary!" and ed goes ".....ex?" and stede can just be like "oh yes didn't i tell you? that's all sorted now."
@menchekia
oh bestie we've got it all sussed out
1. lupete wedding/drag party
2. ed and stede try to get down
3. ned shows up and everyone gets tortured
4. ed and stede do get down
5. the next morning ed brings stede coffee and wears his robe
Jim stepping up to take care of auntie was so special to me. Jim being the caretaker of the crew, emotionally and physically. from chopping off limbs to cheering people up to being the perfect wingman to treating wounds.
Jim is a fucking hero for this crew.
the way stede watches maxxie run off, i just KNOW he's thinking of alma and louis, and what ed might be like with them
this is the SECOND time we've seen ed have some pretty good interactions with kids
PLEASE let me see ed be a good step dad in season 3

@ellmercury
the way Ed puts his hand over stede's, not just to hold his hand but to FEEL his hand there in his own. like he's just like, "yeah this is real. this is mine. this is happening. I can touch him. he's real and he's mine."
this fic may contain: swearing, sexual content, substance use, discussion of abusive relationships, homophobia, transphobia, canon-typical historical inaccuracy, jack rackham
I will do my best to use additional warnings when needed
hi i'm tang! i'm 34 she/they ADHD ambiguously queer and i write all kinds of fic from modern au to horror to teen adventure to the filthiest smut. i also rant and rave and have bad theories. irl i love writing, doodling, video games, nature, design, & sad music. look at my cats!
now that ofmdtwit is up and active again, i want myself and others to find more moots!!! qt this with a lil blurb about yourself and some other interests you have outside of ofmd and letβs make some new friends!!! :-)
"No more Stede"
Ed puts Stede in the same category as drugs and booze. Suggesting Stede is something he keeps coming back to and thinks he shouldn't.
This isn't a one and done reunion folks. This is a messy bumping into your ex who wants to win you back sitch.

"You wanted to be Blackbeard, this is what it's like... The crew's gonna die! Hurry you're gonna lose all your men. It's all gonna be your fault. All of the men who trusted you. All their blood's gonna be on your hands. IT'S GOING TO BE YOUR FAULT."
Ed feels every loss.
the way ed was romanticizing his life as a fisherman is so on brand for him. choosing to see everything through a lens of aesthetics rather than reality. in a way, he's always done that. as blackbeard, as the kraken, as jeff. even as ed.
it's not a bad thing. just an ed thing.
idk why we are not talking about the fact that stede must have been absolutely schnackered when he challenged zheng. AND, for that matter, when he confronted Ed. he was downing booze like no ones business, even before his boyfriend broke up with him to become a fisherman
Jim is the best one of all of them this season they have shown so much growth since season 1 when they didn't give a fuck about anyone or anything but their own self interest
Jim is the hero of this story, they are the protector of the Crew in Stede's absence.
@ellmercury
Yes quiet rage exactly. Showing that he's upset - maybe even with them, but not going to take it out on them and not ever going to let it affect his care for them or their safety.
i'm sorry if you saw ed symbolically abandon his heart throw someone overboard cut off his bestie's toe and feed it to him toss all his ex's belongings overboard maroon his crew paint his face call himself a monster and then thought the next season would be sunshine and daisies
it feels unfortunate that some are rejecting the darker tone of s2 (so far). yes, ofmd is a comedyβbut itβs dimensional, itβs more. itβs the adventure queer love tale i think a lot of us have been waiting our entire lives for. imo comedy is best when it can get this existential.
Someone pointed out to me that this is Buttons' jacket. It is borrowed. And BLUE....
Wouldn't it be so poetic and appropriate with all this wedding theming to wrap up season 2 with THE wedding?
WHAT IF S3 is ALL PIRATE HUSBANDS NO ANGST (for Ed and Stede anyway)
#ofmds2spoilers
what are they celebrating
why is there a piΓ±ata
why is that a whole ass wedding cake
wait why does roach's apron have chains on it lol what kinda hot topic goth shit is this
@ellmercury
their gay little runs through the forest are everything to me
ed fondly watching stede practically skip through the forest. then practically skipping to catch up with him π₯Ή
The way they bodyslammed into each other in Stede's dream.
Not a tender embrace. A crash and a fall and laughing all the way down. And Stede reaches to make sure Ed is okay. And Ed calls him "babe" and "love".
π₯Ί
In Stede's dream, Ed reassures him TWICE, "Knew you'd come for me, babe... Knew you'd come for me, love."
Stede's core fear is that Ed doesn't know he is loved. That Ed feels abandoned. That Ed is acting out because he feels unlovable.
And he's right.

what are the fucked up sleeping arrangements Archie wanted to talk about π like, three to a cabin but only one bed kind of thing orrrr......??? π
