I lived near Martand temple for several years and never heard it called "Shaitan ki Gufa". It is not even a Kashmiri name. I believe a Bollywood movie uses this name. It's made-up.

Just attended a beautiful Hindu wedding in Dallas. Question: why the bride is in gold and the groom in white? Ans: Because in the Vedic wedding (RV 10.85), the bride is Suryaa सूर्या (daughter of Sun, gold) and the groom is Soma (Moon, silver, white). Light comes from the Sun.

In the theatre where I saw Kashmir Files, a tall young American man a few rows down from us, let out a terrifying scream near the end of the movie and ran out. He was crying he couldn't take the pain, but he must have crept back in for I saw him again as the movie ended. 1)

Hinduism is not taught in schools and colleges; temples are not allowed to do it. It is especially tragic because Hinduism is a universal tradition of knowledge. The education of 3 generations of Indians has been controlled by those who profess 19th century science. 1)

“Swastika” is from Sanskrit svastika, which means “to be auspicious” and it was use in a positive way as a solar symbol around the world. Hitler never called it swastika, but always "Hakenkreuz,” or “hooked cross.” Its misapplication should cease.

Raja Bhoja (ruled c.1000 - 1055) was a polymath, builder and conqueror. More needs to be done to tell the public about him. He authored 84 books on subjects that included chemistry, grammar, architecture, music, poetics, & so on!! Was he the most brilliant man who ever ruled?

Kailāsa temple is one of the greatest architectural marvels of the world since it was carved out of one single rock and also for its sculptural treatment. So many wonders about it! How did the architect represent the problem of removal of rock? What kind of charts were used?

It is true that Xinjiang was historically a part of the Indian cultural region. The region used Sanskrit and Prakrits. By Chinese logic of claiming any land that was associated with China or Tibet in remote past, Xinjiang itself should be part of India!

That Indian Supreme Court does not permit arguments in any Indian language, and uses English exclusively, truly irks me. In the European Court of Justice any of the official languages of the member states can be used. भारत ७५ वर्ष होने पर भी स्वतन्त्र नहीं है।

When Xinjiang was part of Greater India. Siva and Parvati in a mural at Kizil Cave in Xinjiang (600 CE), in añjalimudra. Siva, sitting on Nandi, wears a tiger skin with back hand holding a solar disk, and he has three faces. Parvati's garment is decorated with groups of 3 dots.

One of the world's earliest recorded perception paradoxes: The image below is either bull or elephant. It is carved in the great Airavatesvara Temple at Darasuram, near Kumbakonam that was built by King Rajaraja Chola II in 1166 CE.

With war in Ukraine, Kiev is written as Kyiv, to conform to local pronunciation. Shouldn't we then write Meerut as Merath Lucknow as Lakhnau Bareilly as Bareli Cuttack as Katak and Delhi as Indraprastha? (there was a village called Indrapat in what in New Delhi until 1912)

Look at physics, math, medicine, architecture, irrigation, ship-building, steel. India was leader in science and technology until 1700 or so. But known only to scholars. Add a course on History of Indian Science and Technology to college curriculum. Retweet if you agree.

Constructive idea to revive Sanskrit in India: Produce abridged versions of 100 world classics (novels and stories) in सरल संस्कृत and publish them on the Web & in print. (with a glossary) That would allow students to immerse themselves in Sanskrit in an enjoyable way.

There is apparently a law in Indonesia that if an old temple is discovered in a dig (even in a Muslim establishment), then it is preserved as a temple. Here's a story of how such a temple is being protected. Shouldn't India have a similar law to protect temples that are buried

Did you know that Sanskrit was traditionally written in each Indian script such as Brahmi, Sharada, Devanagari, Bengali, Tamil (Grantha), Telugu, Malayalam. Its supposed exclusive association with Devanagari is less than a hundred years old.

In my view, the GREATEST unknown book in all of WORLD LITERATURE is योग-वासिष्ठ, Yoga-Vāsiṣṭha (= Mahā-Rāmāyaṇa). It's about Prince Rāma receiving instruction from Sage Vasiṣṭha, a period left out by Vālmīki. It is a book of the deepest wisdom written most charmingly.

The New Education Policy says medium of instruction till class 5 should be in regional language/mother tongue. I think this is an excellent idea. You need your own language to get started in education for confidence and for deeper understanding.
