So
@taylorswift13
was epic but the crowd were not… I have never dealt with such nasty people before. I had to keep going the toilet and was treated with contempt whenever I went back to my spot. Despite explaining I have a medical condition. 1/3
Repeat after me, chronically ill and disabled people are entitled to fun. They are entitled to concerts, they are entitled to holidays, and they are entitled to use the toilet whenever they need to. If you disagree with this, YOU are the problem.
Just a reminder that disability is something that can happen to anyone at anytime. So the next time you want to be rude to somebody because they have medical condition, please remember that it could in-fact one day be you.
When I used the disabled toilet I was continuously harassed by people banging on the door and shouting to hurry up. This made my anxiety go through the roof. So until
@wembleystadium
have a safer environment for those with medical conditions. I will not be going again. 3/3
People speculating that Kate Middleton has a stoma…can you please be sensitive how you discuss this subject if you have no experience of living with one. We are people, we have jobs, we have partners, we have lives!
I was wearing my sunflower lanyard to let people know I have a hidden condition and had my backpack on with stoma supplies in. One lady demanded I remove my back pack even as I explained why I was wearing it. She then proceeded to continuously shove me. This was a parent btw. 2/3
Disabled person: “I want to be able to access the toilets”.
Able bodied people: “Why don’t you just stay at home. How dare you go out? Why do you want to be pandered to? You should just shit yourself. So ungrateful.”
I won't rest until those with chronic health conditions and disabilities no longer have to lock themselves away and miss out on what they enjoy because venues refuse to make accessibility a priority, and people refuse to use compassion as a necessity.
I have been refused payment from
@TheSun
despite them taking my photos and using them without permission.
I have no issue with papers sharing my story, but it must be with my consent only. It seems they only care about disability when it suits them. Gross.
I should wear this as a placard around my neck when I go to events. Last night, a lady was sitting outside the disabled toilet and told me I couldn’t use it because "I don’t look disabled." Her attitude changed when I showed her my stoma bag, but it should never have gotten to
First you see it, now you don’t!
Thank you
@marksandspencer
for gifting me these specially designed stoma knickers with built in support for bags! …the first ever on the British high street!
These are perfect for every day wear but I especially look forward to wearing them
The fact I shared my experience as a disabled woman at a
@wembleystadium
concert, and people responded that I am “entitled”, look like I wear a sign saying “come f**k me”, dress too scantily and should empty my “sh*t bag anywhere”, but in accessible toilets says everything.
A disabled toilet I encountered today in
@ROKArestaurant
Charlotte street…absolutely disgusting it’s been turned into a storage unit. This is one of many reasons why disabled people struggle to leave the house and go out!
Over 1000 new followers in 24 hours on here. I’ll take a moment to reintroduce myself. My name is Holly, I am 30, I have an eight month old, and in 2021 I nearly died from ulcerative colitis. I spent 8 weeks in hospital that culminated in me having a stoma bag. 1/3
Just to add I have been extremely upset all morning because of how I was treated by people at
@wembleystadium
@taylorswift13
… nobody should be made to feel excluded because they have a disability beyond their control.
Two years ago I nearly died in my Kew Gardens flat…tonight I was here to visit the Christmas lights with my precious daughter. Nothing could make my heart more full ❤️
Disabled toilets are intended for people with disabilities, not for storage. Anyone can become disabled at any time. Imagine how you would feel if you needed to use the toilet and found it being used as a storage room.
Wow, nearly 2000 new followers have been made in 48 hours! I will reintroduce myself again. My name is Holly; I am a journalist and content creator. I have a permanent stoma bag that has greatly enhanced my life. In my free time, I love running and standing up for disabled people
One minute I'm out celebrating my anniversary, and the next I'm crying in the toilet with s**t all on my dress.
Life with a stoma is anything but dull, I'll tell you that for free.
If only people cared enough about ostomates to make supplies available in chemists. Sigh.
The people posting how frustrated they would be if they had to move at a concert will never understand how frustrating it is to live with a bag on their stomach after three operations in two years, including having their colon and rectum removed just to have a quality of life.
Repeat after me, chronically ill and disabled people are entitled to fun. They are entitled to concerts, they are entitled to holidays, and they are entitled to use the toilet whenever they need to. If you disagree with this, YOU are the problem.
Thank you everyone so much for (the nice, not the horrible) responses to my tweet about my experience at
@wembleystadium
to see
@taylorswift13
. On Friday I will be appearing on
@GMB
to discuss my experience more in depth and raise awareness of life with a hidden disability. ❤️
It is absolutely outrageous to think of punishing chronically unwell children, who already endure so much, by forcing them to watch their healthy classmates enjoy ice cream. It's utterly disgusting.
The kids at school who got 100% attendance had an ice cream van come into school on Thursday (it was a ridiculously hot day) and all got an ice cream, the ones that had had a single day off had to sit in the boiling hot playground with nothing. I hate attendance based rewards
Someone suggested that if disabled people can't get a seat at a concert, they shouldn't go. Now, imagine me telling able-bodied people they shouldn't go to an event if they want to sit. Madness.
For anyone who thinks it’s not possible to naturally have a healthy baby with no colon or rectum…here is my little peanut cooking nicely. 16 months post stoma surgery and
7 months post proctectomy surgery. 👼
I’m fed up stoma bags not being available to purchase in public places like chemists and supermarkets. They’re an essential item for ostomates like sanitary ware is for women. So why must they only be accessed through a prescription service? It’s inconvenient and ableist.
I had to face a verbal confrontation with someone for calling me “disgusting” for using the accessible toilet in
@marksandspencer
.… please consider updating your signage to include those with hidden disabilities!
A great example is
@sainsburys
, who even offer sunflower lanyards
Just because you don't see yourself as disabled doesn't mean someone with the same condition isn't. Disability is a spectrum, not a one-size-fits-all label. There's nothing wrong with being disabled, and you should not feel ashamed to acknowledge it.
#disabilitypridemonth
I can announce that I will be taking part in
@LondonMarathon
next year as part of the team
@CrohnsColitisUK
!!!!
And because of this charming comment, I will do it in my pants to get plenty of attention for those of us living with an ostomy! 💜
@Ms_Deathwish
@stomababe
@ROKArestaurant
They have a toilet , in fact one especially for disabled but they are upset because the business has to store stuff in there ,it’s pathetic
In just 4 hours I will be heading down for my surgery…so I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for all their well wishes and support. I am eternally grateful. ❤️
Got told on tiktok by a woman who “has two children” that she would “rather die” than “shit out of her stomach”. Imagine actually thinking that’s an alright thing to type to me…somebody who actually did almost die. I can’t.
I am back at work today after eight months maternity leave!
Where has the time gone. 😭
At least Scarlett looks like she’s been having a fun day with her nana today. 🩷
The consultation period for PIP ends next week, and Liz Kendall still hasn't addressed whether she will abandon the Tory proposal to replace monthly payments with vouchers. This is causing unnecessary anxiety for society's most vulnerable individuals. Truly appalling.
This is what people do not understand. It is incredibly difficult to obtain tickets for the disability area at Wembley. You can not even purchase them online. It is via a phone line that never picks up. People living with illness and disability have to miss out all the time.
@Sedds58Seddon
@stomababe
That’s if you can get tickets for the disability area
You can only get those tickets by ringing up & that’s if you get through you maybe lucky 2 get some
I missed out on so many concerts due to how difficult it is to get disability area tickets especially as I can’t stand 4 long
How about prioritising making pip more accessible to people with hidden disabilities, improve mental health services, and ensure timely NHS referrals instead of just constantly reiterating about "getting Britain working”. 🥱
A whirlwind few days in my new role as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
People have voted for change and we are determined to deliver our plans to
get Britain working, tackle poverty and provide security in retirement … in every corner of our great nation.
An incredible day for ostomates as Gill made history being the first person in the world to swim the channel with a stoma. Absolutely outstanding effort. 👏👏👏
Six months post Proctectomy surgery I conceived my first child and I welcomed her to the world via C-section in October 2023. I have been on my maternity leave since then and return to my role as a journalist this week. 3/3 💜
It costs nothing to show compassion and kindness! The fact that the majority of nasty looks and comments I received were actually from parents and not children says it all!
Having a permanent stoma can be incredibly exhausting. Nightly wake-ups to empty the stoma and the constant loss of nutrients take a toll. Simple tasks require tremendous effort every day. It's incredibly challenging, but it's the price we pay for survival.
Two years back, I said goodbye to my bum hole for good and underwent a permanent stoma surgery. Since then, I've been living free from IBD and medications. Best decision I have ever made. ❤️
My
#DisabilityPrideMonth
story: I'm Holly, a 30-year-old mom to an eight-month-old and a content creator. In 2020, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and now live with a permanent stoma. I also suffer from dyspraxia, ADHD, and depression. What's your story?
Also this may really shock people but not everyone with a stoma wants to or needs to have a reversal. Many are better, healthier and happier just living life with a bag.
So

@taylorswift13
Firstly I had a lanyard on that says MEDICAL CONDITION in capital letters. It’s not difficult to see or understand. I “jostled” for my position the same as anyone else. What is wrong with being patient so I don’t end up covered in my own fecal matter?
I didn't realise how challenging life is for disabled people until I got sick. In London, the pavements are in poor condition, and there are very few accessible tube stops. Disabled toilets are often used as storage cupboards, and the list of issues goes on and on!
@stomababe
I have to say I never really thought about disabled people to my shame until it came very close to home my grand niece is disabled due to accident I now look at everything through her eyes and I really don't like what I see
If companies really cared about “inclusion” they wouldn't just half arsedly put up a single disabled toilet at events. There are 16 million disabled people in England, it is time to do better.
@stomababe
My baby girl had her stoma at 9m old and it saved her life ♥️ those little red buttons are wonderful things. Some people are just ignorant!! Bet she’s got
#bekind
in her bio 😆 xx
Nothing annoys me more than IBD’ers who say “thankfully I didn’t need a stoma” or “lucky I don’t have a stoma”. Well good for you. I’m both thankful and lucky to just be alive, so there we go.
Eight months after leaving hospital I had a second operation to remove my rectum and bum hole. I now have a permenant stoma bag that has taken a lot of getting used to. Throughout my journey I have shared the highs and lows on various social media to raise awareness. 2/3
Why does
@UKLabour
think it's acceptable to appoint Liz Kendall as the face of
@DWPgovuk
, when she lacks expertise or experience in chronic ill health or disability? Shouldn't someone with lived experience be given the opportunity instead?
Through to the terminal with no issues 🎉
Lady who patted me down said I wasn’t even the first to come through security with a stoma this morning ❤.
Dubai here I come 🇦🇪
I noticed there was no mention of support for those relying on pip, welfare, or disabled individuals in the King's speech today. It's disheartening but not unexpected to see these critical issues overlooked once again.
