A little bit of normality returned today with communal singing in the hall (2 x Rang a 3) & mixed class Gaelic Football in the field (Rang 4, 5 & 6) for the first time in 18 months.
Tomorrow will be Valerie, our wonderful secretary, and so, so much more’s last school day in St. Mary’s. 35 incredible years of doing anything for everyone. Long life & happy retirement Val; you mean everything to St. Mary’s too 💛💙

Our Senior Hurling League began in the cold of November-January & ended in the sun today. The Adrian Walsh (son of Fintan) Cup was presented to the winning captain of the Antrim team, Theo. A great GAA season was rounded off with a Gaelic football blitz for 4th-6th 🏐🏑 🏆

Thanks everyone for the phenomenal response to our book appeal. 1868 books were donated which equates to 934 minutes of extra PE! Our class libraries have been replenished and we even had some books left over to donate to less fortunate schools 📚 📖 🙏

Rang a I told us a story (‘A Bundle of Joy’) about a very grumpy donkey whose back, hooves and even ears were sore! As the nativity story built around him, he was filled with joy & love 🐴 😊 😇 🎄
Day 4 of ASW: a big thank you to parent Bernadette Peat who did fantastic fitness sessions with EVERY class in the school. 1st Class had a great time at swimming lessons 🏊♂️ Our senior hurlers saved just enough energy for a great win in their Herald Cup group game.
On the day we would have gotten our summer holidays, well done to all the boys who helped us to complete our virtual run, walk, scoot or cycle around Ireland challenge 🏃♂️ 🛴 🚲
Active School Week finished with coaching from Darren O’Reilly of Ballyboden St Enda’s, a talk on healthy eating with Kilkenny hurling dietitian, Noreen Roche, and lots of fun in the field for the whole school. Thanks to everyone who got involved and enjoy the long weekend 😄
