Asking for the right permissions before the paywall can lead to higher conversions. In this case study, we A/B tested asking for photo permissions for a video editing app and saw that asking for photo access BEFORE the paywall increased conversions by 17%.

Apps with existing UA channels already have a funnel that works so a few small tweaks to the ASO make a HUGE difference. If you're spending $10K a month on UA and NOT never paid attention to ASO, then you're leaving money on the table. And all the indies thank you.
