Today, my friends in BC got a rent freeze and a promise to receive their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by July. Meanwhile in Alberta I almost got hit by a car while out walking and the government is prioritizing making Rodeo our official sport rn for some reason.

Edmonton’s zoning rules are so hot and fun in comparison to other major municipalities in Canada 😻🕺🏻🎉👼 Less exclusively single family zoning can mean it’s easier to build more diverse and dense housing! 🌆 Love these visuals from @UofTCities

I have a buddy and his rent (1 bed 1 bath), in Edmonton, is increasing $700. It’s mind boggling that we just had an election and neither party talked about keeping housing affordable or building more deeply affordable housing for vulnerable folks.

My sister’s rent (2 bed 2 bath) in Calgary just went from $1916 to $2889. That’s a 50.7% increase. Alberta has no rent control. Yes, I know that’s not as expensive as other Canadian cities but the jump is stark and wages aren’t increasing to keep up.

A 15 minute City does not have beg buttons that take 2-3 minutes before allowing you to walk or roll across the street. That is like 1/5 of your city, standing beside an arterial roadway.

Also 1-way quiet residential streets should be designed and signed 20 km/h for cars and 2-way for bikes. 1-ways for bikes in residential neighbourhoods kills quick connections+creates detours that feel longer on a bike (than they do for a car) sorry but no one else said it yet
