Kernel diffusion for blind deconvolution. This is an interesting idea from my students Yash and Yiheng. Instead of using diffusion to generate the image, use diffusion to generate the blur kernel.

What is the f-number of a camera? The f-number is the ratio of focal length to aperture diameter. It is a variable that changes as you adjust your camera setting. For a fixed focal length, a large f-number = a smaller aperture. 1/4

@AlexGDimakis I always think that computer vision folks should learn how a camera works. If you take a picture using a real camera, the finite aperture will give you a natural lowpass due to diffraction. Chapter 6 of Goodman’s Intro to Fourier Optics.

@docmilanfar Excellent explanation!!👍 As a coincidence, I have covered these in my undergrad probability textbook.😅 See chapter 9 on confidence interval. I've also spent some time clarifying the misconceptions about confidence intervals.

Congratulations to Akshat Bisht who won the Outstanding First Time Researcher award in SURF 2022. Akshat is a sophomore in i2lab @PurdueECE . This summer, he built a real-time Jetson demo to simulate and process 1-bit signals from a live camera feed.
