Hey

, offer to anyone who needs it:
I'm a suicide postvention volunteer. I've had training and experience, and a lot applies to non-S grief too. I'm happy to listen, in any event. DMs open. Eastern time US. Wishing you peace.
He died 29 years ago and I hope we're all drunk in Crimea next May, so I'm gonna talk about a badass hero that I find inspiring. He's Capt Mbaye Diagne. /1
Gotta hand it to the “NAFO fellas,” who can apparently “ruin” any online poll about whether Congress should blindly comply with the Pentagon’s request for an additional $100 BILLION for Ukraine. Remind me, how exactly is NAFO funded?

Friends, it's coming to a point: OPSEC and blackouts and all that jazz. Stress. On the plus side, we know The Way. So we're gonna have to be patient and keep it up. Wishing you peace. For Victory, here's the thickest goddamn arrow I could find:

So I just wanted to tell you a little about a man who has always inspired me and will do so forever. There's not a ton of stuff about him online, but enough you can hear some other cool stories. I'm gonna smoke a cig badassedly now in tribute. Peace /end
He was a UN peacekeeper in Rwanda during the genocide who saved probably over a thousand people from the genocide. But it's the way he did it and how bad the situation was that makes me admire the man even more 2/
And the lesson I take from this absolute weapons grade hero is that we can use what little we have to do real things, regardless of how hideous everything is. And imagine a hundred Capt Mbayes at work. Scales get tilted, centers hold. 10/
And he did it all alone, I supported, with the world on fire around him, with no hope of anything but blunting the catastrophe. And he wasn't a maniac; he had a wife and kids. He was worried about getting back to them. He was grieved by what he witnessed. 9/
He (and the basket case mission) were actually there to help police a ceasefire in the civil war. When things exploded, they were marooned. You can guess how likely a prompt, effective response from the UN was. 3/
There are more and more stories about the guy (always unarmed) confronting killers in the street and demanding they unhand someone. His force of personality was all he had, but on these occasions he could shout them into submission. 8/
So with everything on fire, and his own liaison job to do in the meantime, Capt. Mbaye did what he could with all he had: a truck and wits. While he drove around Kigali, he took little detours here and there to snuggle people to safety. 4/
This was more dangerous than it at first seems, because the genocidaires had little roadblocks up all the f over the city. They were manned by frequently drunk interahamwe and other killers 5/
Depending on the mood/BAC of the killers, he had to talk or bribe his way through Every. Single. One.
Meanwhile, it was clear they were being abandoned, the people were being abandoned, and for every life he saved perhaps 500 died. 7/
So clearly discovery meant death. But he did it day after day after day. I once did an envelope calculation that he must have gone through a dozen or two extra roadblocks per day while rescuing folks 6/

Hell yeah, I'd rather fight in an all-drag, Pregnant Sonic Epaulettes NATO unit than the Russian Heavy Crew Microwave battalions.
His face, man, his face. His expression won't leave me. He's done for and there's nothing left to write. And he's no lunatic; he's miserable. And then he takes the one tiny step he can of defiance, and that lasts forever.

We've had a helluva night, fellas. We'all waiting and hoping for our friend. I wanted to say, first, THANK YOU to everyone who helped. So many of you went far beyond awesome. Secondly, this was Certified Heavy Shit. I was shaking while DMing. Please take care of you 💙💛

Take a moment and wonder, "why did I decide to ridicule a child? Is it because no one loves me? Is it because I am so inadequate and craven that I have to find the safest targets?"
@TorontoStar
Wow what an execrable piece. I like to read these before commenting, on the off chance there's some point to counter. Not here. Every line is a disgrace.
I'm going to start talking about

. There's a black hole of it raging right now, and we're stuck facing it eventually, anyway. I'll share what resources and experience I have over the next x days. At best, maybe we can help people hurt in this war... 🧵(WIP)
@Amb_Ulyanov
Actually now the most popular western narrative is, "LOL T-62s???!!!" Please enjoy the continued technology transfer of Javelins and NLAWs into your tanks. Slava Ukraini!
Putin bootlicker fear-based Mike Lee is attacking NAFO and wants to know who’s behind it.
All of us, Mike. It’s all of us.
We wear boots*, we don't lick em.

I wonder how much this amazing stand has done to take pressure off defenses elsewhere and aid the counterattacks. Man, these guys and Azovstal defenders are something else...
