‘You say you love me however I am and when I curse. I say I love you always, the person you are and the person you will become.’
(carol, highsmith, 1952)
just everything about this shot. the way her lips slowly curve into a tender smile. the way her eyes light up. the way you can see her expression slowly softening and brightening in small muscle contractions. simply the most beautiful and touching scene in the history of cinema
and the way it shows jack touching her other shoulder and her not reacting to it whilst carol’s touch was enough to get her heart racing and her breathing hard……… I can’t do this today
the sheer amount of tender and unadulterated love carol aird has for therese drives me out of my mind. it shows perfectly through every single small touch she lays on therese and there’s not a single moment in their entire time together you can’t see it in her eyes
I will never shut up about this scene and about how happy carol was to get a gift from therese and how giddy and soft and utterly besotted she looked when therese touched her hand like that
‘Then as Therese was about to go to her Carol saw her, seemed to stare at her incredulously for a moment while Therese watched the slow smile growing, (…) her hand waved a quick, eager greeting that Therese had never seen before. Therese walked towards her.’
