Service personnel across the county fell silent this morning to honour Barry Martin, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service firefighter who lost his life tackling a fire at a commercial building in Edinburgh last month.
Barry’s funeral will take place on Friday 17th February.
We sadly can confirm that one of our On-call Firefighters Wayne Pryce, from Much Wenlock, has passed away.

Poor Amigo, the donkey, was stuck in a storm drain in Market Drayton today. 🫏😱
Crews from Market Drayton, Hodnet, and Wellington including the Rescue Tender were able to use straps and lines to help pull Amigo out safely and return him to his owner. 😀

Today we said goodbye to Area Manager Kevin Faulkner who is retiring after being with the Service for 31 years.

Our crews rescued a woman and her three-year-old daughter from a severe house fire last night in Oswestry.
Thankfully they both only suffered smoke inhalation and didn't receive more serious injuries.

As we appear to be taking part in a live action game of "the floor is lava" over the next couple of days, we would ask you to be extra vigilant when you are out and about.
We have attended a number of avoidable wildfires over the weekend.

We are dealing with a serious fire at Hadley Industrial Estate in Telford.
Crews from Telford, Wellington and Shrewsbury are in attendance.
We are advising all nearby resident to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to smoke coming from the building.
UPDATE:
Crews from Bridgnorth, Craven Arms, Newport, Shrewsbury, Telford Central and Wellington are at the large farm fire.
The three large barns, approximately 50m x 70m, contain grain, potatoes and machinery and are well alight.
We are really thankful that we didn't see many incidents over the weekend and that you all enjoyed your various celebrations safely.
We saw a 20% reduction in incident over the Bonfire Night weekend compared to last year.

Thankfully, the fire is now under control and there were no serious injuries. Crews are remaining on scene to monitor. An investigation into the cause will begin shortly.

Crews from Shrewsbury, Baschurch and Minsterly with the Swift Water Rescue Team, rescued a man from the River Severn today.
He was giving CPR by firefighters, ambulance, critical care paramedics and police colleagues and was then taken to hospital.
