We love being able to help the people of York and North Yorkshire feel safe and be safe. We do that by not only responding to emergencies when we’re needed, but by delivering education and activities to the public and businesses. #HappyYorkshireDay

Now the sun is finally shining, you may be planning a BBQ or a garden bonfire. Please keep them away from sheds, trees, hedges and garages, and never light them in an enclosed space. Make sure garden fires are contained, ideally in an incinerator or fire pit.

With the school holidays underway for many please make sure your children are aware of the dangers of starting small fires or burning school books/clothing. Small fires can quickly spread. #BeMoorAware

If you're heading to the countryside please take care. Dispose of cigarettes carefully, don't leave glass bottles lying around and don't light BBQs or camp fires on or near to grass/moorland. If you spot a fire call 999

The sun has finally appeared! If you're planning a trip to the countryside to make the most of it, please follow our safety advice-take your litter home especially glass bottles/jars, dispose of smoking materials carefully and never have campfires or barbecues on dry grass land.

With the weather hopefully getting warmer over the next week, we’re asking you to help us this summer by taking care in the countryside. Grass and moorland fires can spread quickly so please never light fires or have BBQs on dry grassland.
