It was unconscionable for SF to tow and forfeit vehicles from folks who couldn’t afford to pay parking tickets, and then to pocket the money from selling these vehicles when owners couldn’t pay the additional high cost of reclaiming their vehicles. 1/

We did it in San Francisco with @sfdefender Patti Lee leading the charge for the "Jeff Adachi Youth Rights" - guaranteed right to counsel - before interrogation or before waiving Miranda rights - for youth up to 17yo. We can do it around the country to protect our young people.

CA law (SB 1421) made records of police shootings public. On-duty or off-duty should not matter. We continue to push for the release of records in SF, which have trickled out at glacier speed since 1421 went into effect over a year ago! Transparency+Accountability =>trust/safety

Off-duty SFPD shot at a guy; didn’t see a weapon but who knows maybe he did have a weapon. In September. Still receiving full pay. Covered up despite 13-month old law declaring it a matter of public record.
