The highest A-League average crowd for a season is 14,610 in 2007-08 (aka Season Three). The season began in late August. Worth noting that by the time of the NRL GF, it was Round 7 - 1/3 of the season had been played. The football community doesn't need to wait for "clear air"

Exactly years ago, Ange Postecoglou was announced as @Socceroos coach It was a great five years. Played bravely in the 2014 World Cup with a young squad, won the 2015 Asian Cup and qualified for the 2018 World Cup in very difficult circumstances. But bigger things would follow.

This might be the time when professional sports clubs/organisations finally stop taking fans for granted. Fans aren’t there to be gouged or leveraged. The reverse - they are the lifeblood of pro sport. Such loyalty should be nurtured, not exploited. Never take them for granted.

Gaizka Mendieta. Seriously, what he did at Valencia was extraordinary, still underrated to this day. He virtually powered a half-decent team to Top 4 + Copa del Rey + b2b Champions League finals. In his prime, he was as good as any midfielder in Europe.

One of my favourite photos from the 2014 World Cup. Arrive at my hotel in Salvador, open the blinds - and there it is below: football. I watched for about 30 minutes. It was a full-on contest of talent and technique. Street football is the best kind; an art form all its own.
