Here's what I want to say about the #CarFreeJFK objections: Car dependence is inequitable and regressive. It's a burden to need to own and use a car. Leaders who want to improve SF should be supporting options to cars, not perpetuating the social inequity of car dependence.

My take on #AB1401 : Parking is an amenity. Developers will provide it when it's needed to make a project appealing. It's like a pool or a fitness room or a dog pee area. Cities don't require any of those but some buildings have them. Parking can work the same way.

20 dwelling units per acre isn't high enough density to support local retail and transit. Right in the ballot measure it says that they're using 20 du/ac because that's the legally accepted assumption for "affordable" density.

The plan calls for a minimum density of 20 dwelling units per acre. That's already more than the typical suburb, and high enough to support local retail and transit. I suspect this will be shifted around to have higher local densities in certain locations.

Are there any urban design or transportation planning or engineering programs that include learning about the world from the point of view someone mobility impaired? Spend a day shadowing a person in a wheelchair, try getting through your commute with a boot on your foot, etc?

Iโ€™ve started listening to an episode of @TheWarOnCars each morning as I walk to work. It gets me fired up for the work day. I guess thatโ€™s what the millennial youngsters might call โ€œon brand.โ€

It's not an either/or. A place to play and recreate is also a street that promotes and supports sustainable transportation. Recreation isn't frivolous, it's essential; transportation isn't just about movement, the trip itself plays a huge part in quality of life.

The problem in SoCal isn't density, it's overcrowding - which is due to a lack of density.

The problems in the TL are from decades of neglect/lack of compassion/political gamesmanship, it's going to take many efforts over many years to make things better, and a "state of emergency" approach is an abomination.

I don't think it helps San Francisco to have leaders who are using the City as a stepping stone for something more. We're too heavy on politics and too light on policy as is.

Pretty much everything about working on Great Highway has been an incredible experience, but hearing about and witnessing the opportunities itโ€™s created for disabled people takes it to a whole other level.

@colinmdownes So, a few things: I presume you mean trains, because I have never met anyone who said they'd rather sit on a bus than drive, though I suppose they probably exist.

I donโ€™t think parks should be full Sun or full shade. A mix is ok. A change that will add some shade to a park isnโ€™t something to be avoided at all costs.

Hereโ€™s a modest proposal: when this is done, letโ€™s keep all this WFH systems in place and break them out again on #SparetheAir days.

While all of @sfmta_muni is abuzz with excitement about @jeffreytumlin joining us on Monday, lets appreciate the leaders who brought us through. @veedubyou has been outstanding as Director of Sustainable Streets while Tom Maguire was Interim Director. Plus, she's ๐Ÿ’ฏ awesome.

Housing developers and everyone advocating for #SB423 and other housing bills should be right there with @Scott_Wiener on the front lines screaming for transit to be funded. Low or zero parking, key to CA's housing strategy, only works if there's frequent reliable 24/7 transit.

Today I learned how to flip a batch of gyoza out of a pan onto a plate all in one unified piece of pan-fried yumminess.
