This was a labor of love for me for many months. Denis, we could never do your life justice in two minutes, but it was an honor to dedicate these minutes to you. I hope you are at peace. You are missed.
Actually, the way Dr. Ford was treated before and during her testimony is a national disgrace. The prevalence of sexual abusers in positions of power (and people willing to put/keep them there) is a national disgrace.
Good Morning. Can anybody name a single institution or endeavor that spans political and cultural divides — that unites the country around something positive?
Some news:
I’ve decided that my drag name will be “big miss steak,” to indicate I’m both fancy and a disaster. This is my first headshot. Thank you for your time
Thread re: the

Grand Prix season. Lots of talk about how it will not be possible to hold it as planned. I don’t completely disagree, but not sure we are being creative enough. It could be done virtually.
In my egot era 🏆 Honestly, the hours and travel schedule and lack of sleep aren’t worth it for a trophy, but they’re worth it to get to tell an athlete’s story, to bring a little joy to someone watching, and to work with a great team. Trophy is a nice bonus tho 😘

@AshWagner2010
) will be available in Mexico, the Caribbean region, and Japan (and as always in the U.S. you can watch the world feed on peacock)
The truth is I wrote the song and recorded it within about 20 minutes in a creative blackout. Only realized what I had done when I first played it for Adam and we were both in tears. It’s such an honor to be running people off the road with my art 😂
.
@sarahhughes11
I just listened to your Run Through countdown and I legit had to pull my car over in a fit of laughter from your song. Kudos to you for putting yourself out there and showing us all your amazing voice. How did you contain from fits of laughter yourself? 😭
Our final episode of 2023 is ….. well, it’s a good thing
@AshWagner2010
will be back soon. This is
@AdamRippon
and I, alone with a soundboard. Happy new year everyone ❤️
No one needs to care about this but I ran 7 miles this morning, which is a lot further than I thought I’d be going even as little as 2 weeks ago. So just wanted to shout into the void/this website that I am really proud. 😇
Not Olympic Champion
@sarahhughes11
really deserves a production award for The Run Through podcast. From the first line of the intro through the final note of the sign-off, every episode fills me with joy.
Honored to march with my brothers and sisters in Atlanta today. This protest was completely peaceful, we went 9+ miles through the city without incident or violence.

Never forget this event was the weekend after trump got elected and all my pent-up despair came out in the form of sobbing for the last 2 min of this program

Adam and I saw this a few days ago and DIDNT show her because we were jealous of not getting our own Rodrigo hype vids
(aka, we forgot)
Yesterday I told
@AdamRippon
that he should tweet something that he said out loud, and he said, “maybe it should be a fleet,” and that marked the end of a beautiful friendship
Anyone else feel like all the people going about their lives refusing to wear masks are the same people who bought up all the toilet paper for themselves 3 months ago
There is a track & field meet happening today at 7 venues across the world. A digital start gun ensures the runners go at the same time. Figure skating is uniquely suited for virtual events because skaters don’t perform at the same time/head-to-head. If track is trying, why not?
let the record show that georgia did this when the nation at large didn't believe it could flip. this was done by local organizers without all the money and resources that were sent to PA, WI, MI.
Something I’m taking as a victory regardless of results: today the largely minority precinct I work at in metro Atlanta had a turnout that was 16% higher than on general Election Day in November. (16 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Okay I’m not saying I’m optimistic but I do want to announce that I JUST got a text telling me that my mail-in vote was counted. They are very much still counting in Atlanta.
Also my house seat has officially flipped blue.
If conditions are the same as now (hopefully better), skaters could travel domestically. The ISU could designate official competition rinks (at similar altitudes) in each country with skaters invited to participate. Could oversee installation of cameras (regular+review) at each.
It’s not the ideal way to have events, and I’m sure I haven’t thought of every potential issue that could arise. But I don’t think the GP Series should be written off without considering a scenario like this. [Fin]
The stress of being in a swing state is more than I anticipated. But I can’t pretend it’s not REALLY cool to see them pulling up my county on the cnn maps. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
In all of this I sorta lost sight of how momentous it would feel for me and every other woman to watch Kamala make that speech. There’s no replacement for representation. Every time I cast a vote I’ll remember the days I cried over Hillary and Warren. And I’ll remember this too.
Appreciation post for my mom, who went out to a Catholic march for justice in Atlanta today on her own with a friend. Talk to your parents!!!

Scheduling start times isn’t totally necessary, just a way to impose structure. For next week’s Peggy Fleming Trophy, skaters submitted programs via video link; they’re being judged by a panel before being broadcast.

Ground turkey which remains in my freezer to this day. I have never bought ground turkey in my life but I really needed it on March 12 2020
One of the most important jobs for sure.
Special thanks to
@sarahhughes11
for getting every last detail and pronunciation right for every Olympic figure skater! People just think we know what we’re talking about!
They say timing is everything so here's a podcast episode in which
@AdamRippon
and
@AshWagner2010
(and me a little) talk about Russia on the day of Trump's arrest
I left my precinct today - where we processed 600+ voters, many of them first-timers - reminded why voting moves us: it’s an act of pure self-love and self-worth. It’s when we decide we care enough to say something, but even more that we’re *important* enough to say something.
I am so lucky to sit next to Terry while history unfolds in front of our eyes. The very best at what he does and the best person in general. Another Olympics in the books together!! ❤️
Quarantine is a great opportunity to finally do all those things you said you’d do one day, the things that slipped away as the grind of everyday life took the spare time & motivation you might’ve had to make those little dreams come true.
Anyways I’m learning the renegade dance
For years Georgians have felt the eye rolls and jokes from the north/west about our politics here. Some of it is fair, but we knew we had the numbers and
@staceyabrams
has done the work to turn them out despite huge voter suppression efforts. Now it could make all the difference.
I'm not sure it's really sunk in yet, even among reporters, that we're probably going to get 2 runoffs in Georgia on Jan. 5 that will determine control of the Senate.
despite (or maybe in addition to?) her often insane takes, noc sarah hughes is such a fucking hater which is how i know she’s a real ice dancie and also a dear personal friend of mine
Skaters could still have designated times they have to skate their programs, not necessarily all in a row b/c of time zones. Officials or volunteers could be at each rink to ensure 6-min warmup and other regulations are followed. Would need medics on hand too.
Could it be problematic if a coach or someone else in the rink contacts a judge between the time the program is skated and when it is judged? Yes. But lobbying judges would not be unique to virtual events; it’s already an issue in real life.
CBS really called this the “biggest performance of the year” three weeks after Lady Gaga sang the national anthem and J-Lo said let’s get loud at inauguration
I’ve known
@pklibanoff
most of my life and he’s not perfect, but today he told me he gets notifications every time I post on Instagram so he can be one of my first likes every time and I’m just feeling really loved
