Cleaner air. Pollution actually noticeably lower from space. People buying less crap which they don’t need and only buying food which they do. Going for walks, cycling, fewer planes in the sky, the quietness, listening to insects and birds sans traffic noise. Lovely lockdown.
That ugly bloody X at the top of my screen🤬. Taking a little blue bird away and replacing it with a big X somehow feels like a metaphor for what we’re doing to the Earth.
Doomer mates. Apparently musky is going to start charging for this soapbox. I will say adieu when that happens and can’t be arsed moving to another ‘platform’. At this stage we all know what lies ahead anyway.I willI take this prophylactic opportunity to say goodbye and thanks.
80% of the only habitat these guys can live has been destroyed by palm oil. Think about that when you’re shopping and don’t contribute to their extinction. Read the ingredients and return to the shelf. 👌
Please read this and understand the consequences. Forget the EV and the solar panels and the wind turbines. We can’t undo this. Very unpleasant conditions ahead for all life😞.
WTF is Happening? An Overview – Watching the World Go Bye
The Kenya population is projected to reach 66.45 million in 2030 and increase further to 91.58 million in 2050 and 125.42 million by 2100. By that time there will be no room for elephants and nowhere to move them to.

Moving animals as large as elephants requires patience, skill & coordination. Not to mention heavy-duty equipment. This is the moment a multi-ton elephant is lifted onto our custom built-flatbed truck. Read what happens next in a typical translocation:
Johnny public will only notice when the shelves are empty. Then it’ll be because of Bill Gates or the covid vaccine or 5G or solar flares. We have some very hard lessons coming.
The public don’t understand that the olive oil price is skyrocketing because crops in Europe have been devastated by extreme drought because of climate change, and that it’s going to get much worse - or that David Attenborough warns the collapse of the food system is on the
This is what the palm oil industry is doing to orangutans and biodiversity. The only action which will save them is stopping palm plantation. Stop buying palm. Takes a bit longer but you can exclude it from your shop. Other oils are available which don’t destroy critical habitat.
He’s clearly insane. >82 million more/ year. There have never been more people on earth than there are at this moment and that record will be broken by the time I finish typing.
Humans are the most adaptable species ever, having colonized, extracted and polluted every ecosystem on the planet.
But this ignoramus thinks he's got it all figured out.
Too many people think its just about emissions, a few electric cars there, a little bit of insulation there and all will be honky dory - reality our forests wetland oceans are being utterly destroyed - Amazon alone losing 200,000 acres a day- humans need to stop destroying nature

They are currently building another one, again with a capacity to slaughter another 1.2 million pigs a year...

Just sharing a bit of footage of orphaned pipistrelles that have come into our care. They’re doing well. If you find a bat during the day outdoors something is wrong as they’re nocturnal and should be roosting. For what to do in Northern Ireland check

is the main cause of the climate crisis and biodiversity loss. In the future it will be the main cause of wars and epidemics. Moreover, the more we are, the more the life of the individual is diminished.

I have the best neighbours on earth. After 31 years we say good morning and an occasional remark about weather. I think we’ve nailed it.
Seven Worlds One Planet in Europe BBC4 tonight demonstrates just how much of the planet humans are destroying. 94% of the wild land in Spain has been converted for human use. The Iberian lynx reduced to a 25 mile long reserve. These documentaries are almost unwatchable. Sad.😞
@MarkCranfield_
This summer the countryside and gardens have been utterly devoid of invertebrates. My entire garden is planted for pollinating insects but apart from a handful of bees - Nada. No butterflies. No lacewings. No hover flies. It’s actually terrifying.
‘Our numbers have quadrupled in the last hundred years. Fossil fuels have enabled us to multiply, by providing us with a blast of energy and food, resulting in us massively overshooting our planet’s capacity. We found the energy, we took it and we burnt it as fast as we could.’

Eventually there’s gonna be nowhere left to move elephants too. We need to tackle human overpopulation and provide women in the developing world with the means to have agency over their own bodies.

COP26 winding up and local TV news main story had people complaining about the extortionate price of oil, gas, petrol and diesel atm. One woman interviewed actually said she was having to consider shorter journeys. Maximum cognitive dissonance. We’re doomed.

If only the people who tell us this is all nonsense could provide just one scientifically credible refutation to reassure us. What a shame they cannot.

I can immediately think of one species which is not only unnecessary but actually detrimental to the health and wellbeing of all other animals and the biosphere. Only a matter of time though. Tick tock.

Retreat into the small stuff. Listened to the dawn chorus at my back door this morning. Fifty years ago it would have been a lot louder and there’d have been thrushes but two blackbirds and a robin did their best. Almost impossible not to tear up.
Today’s second reason to hate humans just a bit more.
Personally I’d destroy this trap and release the bird. We both know that the law won’t change anytime soon and gamekeepers will ignore welfare laws anyway. You’re contributing to this animal’s suffering by leaving it.
I posted something about this trap a couple of days ago. Here’s an update, together with a few thoughts about welfare. Anyone can reach their own conclusions by looking at the video and considering a little background information. 1/13
Water is in ever decreasing supply in SAfrica. Wild animals dying in huge numbers. BBC reported the reasons on tonight’s news. Everything under and including the sun were listed as causes. Except of course
the uncontrolled population growth since the mid 20th century.

What a terrible piece in The Atlantic . Malthus didn’t reckon on oil being used to supply > 60% of the food for 8 billion+ humans. And of course no mention of the fact that our consumption of resources is driving a mass extinction 🙄.

The overpopulation discussion has no fans on the left or the right. The left cry racist, eugenicist, eco facist and the right defend it on growth, religious or personal freedom grounds. It is the room elephant we deny at our and the entire earth’s peril.
⬇️ Consumers are king. Don’t buy palm and precious habitat won’t be destroyed to grow it. Take a few seconds to scan the ingredients and set the product back if it contains palm or derivatives. Remember there is no such thing as sustainable palm.

By 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the world's oceans
Plastics are able to enter into the human bloodstream, permanently residing in our bodies until the day we die and causing immense damage
as well as wiping out millions of marine and animal life
Well, that about does it.

A lot more devastation will be visited on the earth in the name of ‘sustainable energy solutions’. Greenwash- keeps the greens happy, makes shareholders rich and destroys the environment.
For a while, all this was hidden behind the closed doors of abattoirs. Now we know what goes on, and yet more animals than ever are tortured by Big AG, and most people still eat meat. There's little progress in society, despite easily accessible knowledge and advanced technology.
