There is a word for people who constantly wonder and ask about the political views of those around them. Activists. Activists are grossly overrepresented in American journalism. And American journalism is grossly overrepresented in social media culture.

I might write about this eventually, but one thing I'm starting to think about is how the things Basham points out correctly in the book (esp. race and #MeToo ) seem related to a streak of evangelical culture that was too busy reacting to journalism/Internet trends.

My precise dates are fuzzy, but I know that 2024 marks 10 years of consistent blogging/newsletter writing for me. It was 10 years ago that my then-fiance (now wife) encouraged me to write as a way of coping through a discouraging, and dull, office job.

I didn't always agree with him, but I have to say, it has been bizarre watching the Tim Keller I read and heard during his life morph into the mythological architect of Christian surrender in America, the great Negative World denier who ushered in a dictatorship of drag queens.
