I am now finally a part of the Ukrainian foreign legion. From Finnish reservist Lt. to UA recruit. People from all over the world have come here to help to defend Ukraine. My bunkmates are Norwegian and American. There is still plenty of room for more!

My volunteer Finnish 🇫🇮 brothers in arms in Ukraine 🇺🇦. For what do we live and die? To accumulate as much money as possible and a self-satisfied career or for others and what we are deeply convinced of?

Volunteered to defend Ukraine against the russian invasion. Only thing needed is a passport! Right now they want people with military experience. Take warm clothes it's cold here. Met another volunteer from US. Reserve one whole day for crossing border. Picture from Lviv.
Ryssät pommittivat meitä ensimmäisestä päivästä lähtien rypälepommeilla. Täysin turha uutinen - ryssäpropagandan levittämistä. Tässä omia kokemuksia: 🧵1/3
Unknown soldier 😉 in Ukraine. Please, pressure your governments to donate heavy weapon systems! Humanitarian aid is great, however, it will not end the war, only weapons and sanctions will. Do what you can to help!
In June while serving on the Ukrainian frontline in the Kharkiv region I was tasked with leading a recon mission to establish an observation post. In a funny coincidence, history repeats itself after 80 years. Thread 1/5

Short article (in finnish) about my experiences in Ukraine on the frontline. The struggle continues, do what you can to help. Suomalainen Ralf Sirén soti Ukrainassa kuukausia – ytimekäs arvio Venäjän kyvyistä
Never have I felt so privileged. I have decided to return home from the war after fighting here since February. A choice of luxury that brave Ukrainian soldiers don't have. The decision is mainly related to my deteriorating health which requires hospitalization 🤷♂️😕
Battlefield Ukraine ⚔️🇺🇦. Here we're evacuating one of my men on the frontline. His life was saved by donated tourniquets (x2). No pain killers. All help is appreciated, thanks to everyone who is helping!

Continuing on the déjà vu, the breakthrough and Russian collapse right now reminds a lot of Operation Fridericus, where a large soviet force was destroyed in the same region. What an embarrassment for Russia. I can proudly say my unit is participating in the current offensive 5/5
There it was perfect, but to my surprise, someone else had been there before us. It turned out the extensive foxhole and trench network, now collapsed, had been prepared by the Germans in WW2. Apparently the terrain & tactics haven't changed too much in 80 years. 3/5
One of my German volunteers called his grandfather: "Opa, I'm fighting in the trenches you built in WW2!". Hes opa had fought in the area. When the enemy found us after weeks, they shelled us with mortars just like a century ago. We found this old shell on the ground. 4/5
Finnish magazine
@SuomenKuvalehti
wrote an extensive article about my experiences in Ukraine. Even though my journey in Ukraine is now over, the war is still very real and we should not forget to do everything we can. Link to bypass the paywall:
After finding the location, as drawn on the map, my squad spread out to look for good positions. None was good enough - I wanted better sight in a specific direction and more cover. I told everyone to move 200m south-west and look there instead. 2/5
Anyone interested in buying my used Passat?..😅 Due to the lack of available transportation in Ukraine I bought this fine specimen in March, but have no need for it anymore. Nice summer 🌞 project car 🛠 for enthusiasts, pickup in Kharkiv!

This clip was posted with his permission. A much longer video, with his commentary, will soon be released. At the beginning of the video, our troops miss the BMP with AT weapons whereafter it opens fire. You can hear the rumbling of the enemy armor in the background.
Following my departure from Ukraine our platoon has suffered heavy cascualties participating in the Kharkiv offensive, including a Finnish volunteer. It saddens me greatly that I will never see many of my friends again. RIP Rory & Steve. Heroes never die.

I'm a volunteer with military training from Finland. I arrived into Ukraine today and will report to the military tomorrow. I'll try to keep you updated of how it goes

Voin Ukrainan sodan veteraanina ja kokemusasiantuntijana vahvistaa yllä olevan väitteen. Miinoilla on hidastava vaikutus ja Ukrainassa esim. emme uskaltaneet liikkua miinoitetussa metsässä öisin. Miinat hidastivat myös päätöksiäni joukkojen liikuttamisesta

Ryssän rypälepommit itse kokeneena ihmettelen. Kommentoin Iltalehden vastaava uutisointia aiemmin, mutta järkyttävää että propaganda menee YLE:llä läpi samalla tavalla.

Trooper "BigMac" brilliantly shares the story of our Bravo company. I shared much of his journey, and had the honor to serve as his platoon leader for a while. He's a great soldier and excellent soryteller (and makes strong coffee).

I reported to a military base. Met another volunteer from the US. The military is now transfering to another base where they know more about the international battalion
