We are very proud to say that we are open 50 years today as a family business. This couple took over this pub on the 8th December 1972. Thank you to all our loyal customers over that time. And thanks to our staff, who make it all possible.

46 years ago today, this pair, John and Della Costello opened the doors of our pub (married 6 months to the day and our parents). They took over the business from the Fortune family. The pub was established in 1839 so here’s looking at 2019 and going 180 years strong. 🎉❤️

@LVADublinPubs We’re struggling badly as an industry. For those of us who have adapted and reopened, this is beyond a joke. This is not a “restaurant” but a playground with alcohol and irresponsible management situated in the centre of Dublin. Sickening that this could destroy it for all.

#localhistory Richmond Gate designed by Francis Johnston was erected in its current location in the mid 1840s. It originally stood where Watling Street met Bloody Bridge and closed at night to prevent “beggars and disorderly women” congregating on the road to the Royal Hospital.

Ever wondered why Bulfin Road is so called? Named in honour of Eamon Bulfin (1892-1968). Born in Argentina and fought in the GPO in 1916, he raised one of the flags over the building during the Rising. After internment in Frongoch in Wales, he was deported to Buenos Aires.

This plague commemorates the innocent victims of the Irish famine in St.James’s Hospital. The South Dublin Union Workhouse was situated in the grounds of the hospital and many victims found themselves in there due to horrendous circumstances and starvation. @stjamesdublin
