A 100,000 MT Crude Oil cargo will arrive in Colombo later tonight & will undergo quality sampling tomorrow. A 2nd Crude Oil Cargo of 120,000 MT is scheduled to arrive 23rd-29th of August. Both cargos are Russian Urals Crude Oil. Refinery to commence operations by mid next week.

Recent LKR weakness is not due to opening imports. It’s due to banks building USD positions expecting SLDB settlement in LKR bonds. When this is done, banks need to convert LKR to USD (buy $) to match their USD liabilities.
