El Salvador has passed the law exempting individuals from import taxes of up to $75k of personal effects in the event of a move. This is huge for those of us moving to El Salvador in the future. It seems like some details are still being finalized. Will update/link etc.

Got caught in random wild fire near El Salvador airport. Crazy. I am not taking this as a bad omen. On a positive note, the airport and customs experience was the BEST I have ever had in the third world. Incredibly friendly and fast and easy. Took 40 to clear and rent car!

I’ve accepted a variable hour job with a former boss and will be working 100ish hours a month for basically the same money I was making while working 70 hours a week. Another role begins Friday, freelance. Super happy I got laid off, I feel so much happier and free!

First downside of living in El Salvador emerges after three hours of living here: My entire house is designed for someone 5’7”. I’m 6’1” and have banged my head on doorframes twice and the overhang over our stairs once. On the plus side, everything else is fantastic.
