hiii ^_^ my debut poetry chapbook, "please stay," is out through Bottlecap Press today :") i am so grateful to be able to share it with you all :) born out of a very dear friend challenging me to write 365 poems in 365 day, these are the highlights from that spring. so thrilled<3
we are SO back... ‼️‼️‼️
two new banger poems by Romy Rhoads Ewing [
@romyewing
] up on the site!! this one is 'phantom.'
read it + the other (link below)
had a stress dream that a good friend of mine lost a finger, and instead of driving her to the hospital, i called my dad (who is missing a finger for real) to ask about the lifestyle of it all, which is unfortunately very funny
anyway i just went to such a beautiful poetry reading i'm filled with LOVE and INSPIRATION and i want to try to start something of my own. if anyone would be interested in a reading (not limited to poetry!!) via discord since all of my writer friends are scattered everywhere, hmu
again i can't emphasize enough how much the turnout at tonight's poetry reading meant to me :") thinking i def need a remedial public speaking class and an ativan refill but still feeling very loved and totally floored. what a killer fuckin group
my poem with
@BRAWL_Lit
is out now!!! you can, despite your best judgment, listen to a recording of me reading it:
thank you again to BRAWL,

starting second job at a cafe, not in a clawing myself above the poverty line kicking and screaming kind of way but a lana rey will you serve me lemonade yes bill i will it's the first day of the parade kind of way
i said something about being born in 1997 today at work, and the beautiful thing about the
service industry is that one of my coworkers was fighting for her life trying not to call me old and another was fighting for her life trying not to call me a baby
emotional bc me and all my neighborhood friends from my adolescence went on to pursue the arts. except for the one who went to jail for literal unspeakable acts. but extremely neat for the rest of us nonetheless
it's so awesome being in a creative nonfiction class bc everyone is used to talking about unlikeable narrators but they have to dance around it a little bit for this one
easy--be under the impression that you're moving six hours away to humboldt so you have nothing to lose by telling a friend of a friend you think he's cute. and then end up staying
(on the edge of the pit for death grips, september '15)
driving across the "did you get emotional the first time you drove in sacramento" bridge from lady bird while ribs by lorde plays is like evel knievel jumping the fountains at caesar's palace but for sentimental northern californians
austin and i went to joann's and now we have brat shirts for brat night (this was before i cut mine the fuck up and also the lighting in our apt is so cooked they're brat greener than they look i promise)
not to be all "they don't build statues of critics," but poems about anal have been and will be continue to be remembered/revered/studied long after we're all gone, and the prudish rants complaining about it ruining their cheese danish or w/e will fade into obscurity in weeks
I wonder how many of the 100,000+ people who subscribe to the Poem-a-Day email newsletter were innocently trying to eat breakfast this morning when they were presented with today's poem, titled "My Hole. My Whole."
thinking about the vegan bakery i used to work at where someone quit on the spot because someone changed the music from pinkpantheress to aphex twin...the portlandification of sacramento is here to stay
There is a concept known as “thin places”, where it is said that the veil between this world and the next is thin. You can sense the numinous around you, even if you cannot describe it.
Where have you been that felt ‘thin’?
within last couple hours: got told "fuck you" for crossing the street w/ right of way, got asked where the good clubs are by the same "fuck you" guy, got called the f slur by a DIFFERENT person while walking, accidentally deleted the entire list of published pieces on my website
everybody point and laugh because the nostalgia glasses are taking no prisoners and i'm now wistful for even sac state. for even this hoaky-ass photo!!
"your mom has a copy of lolita on the same kitchen table with a bunch of your childhood pictures and i don't know how to tell her it's not a good look"
help i tore up the back of my ankle like crazy and i'm going to a wedding in a few hours, what can i do to put off actually caring for it for like a day and make myself able to dance all night
and i don't have a molly plug in beaverton, oregon so don't even
i forgot i was wearing a pride pin yesterday so naturally my coworker starting a sentence with "since you're /obviously/ queer" yesterday briefly had my jaw on the floor
btw i did it and it was the most vulnerable thing i've done in some time. literally walked to the venue with it wrapped in a plastic target bag like it was contraband and they were so incredibly sweet when i dropped it off???!!
"Here, gripping condensed glasses, limbs draped over tattooed shoulders, lithe and limp and inconsolable, consider me ego fairy, sneaking black liner and glitter in my clutch adorning dancers with cheekbone hearts..."
❤️🔥 today from

chilling that many of you heard my voice for the first time via a recording of my poem about basketball and sacramento dive bars but you know what? at least it's on-brand
