Ranch raised in TX, NM & AZ, Texas A&M '02, glorified oil checker at a gas plant, saddle ornament, cattle feeder, I rope calves like an old fat lady, agvocate
Neighbor let me borrow his trailer while mine is getting re-wired. Brought it back after giving her some shine juice. She cleaned up nice. Always bring borrowed stuff back better than you got it. Makes for good neighbors.
This is what my folks use for a feed truck. Mom acquired this when she was in college & has had it since. 1958 Chevy Apache. Straight 6, 4 speed manual, starter on the floor. All original besides wheels & reupholstered seat.
40 hours after the break - dad has a full hip replacement. He sat on the edge of the bed tonight 7 hours after surgery after he found out he can go if he walks. Sister flew in &, I just got home. I’m grateful for family & everybody’s prayers. ❤️ This video is last Tuesday.
Mom visited my grandpa Jack on his 93rd birthday. Still feeds his cows 2x/day. He stopped irritating his own alfalfa just a few years back. If I live to be that old, I hope I’m as good of shape!
So, dad fell piddling around in the barn last night. Back to the ER in El Paso. Broken femur this time. 🤦♂️ Waiting on an orthopedic to come available. Lemme tell you - an El Paso hospital on a Saturday night is the Wild West! Dad’s on strong meds & the worst is behind him.
My sister teaches at a Christian school in Nashville. Not the one impacted. I picked up my kid today for a Dr appointment & we have this. I’m not trying to start anything here but we sure are different everywhere.
Dad is 81. He still ropes twice a day. This morning he had a wreck. Mom got him loaded up & to the hospital in El Paso. I’m burning my first PTO in 9 months & screaming out there. I’ve made this drive hundreds of times. It’s never taken so long this time…
Yesterday, the house next to me burned down. It’s been vacant for 5-6 years. One of the hottest fires I’ve ever fought. It didn’t help that it was 109° out. Yeah, that’s me in the sombrero.
I’m so overwhelmed. Thank you all for your well wishes & messages & calls. Dad is good. He’s home & watching the Cowboy Channel & shopping online for another junk stock trailer to go fix up. I’ll get to stay with him for a few days & we all count ourselves blessed.
Healing up nice. Sitting for an hour in the dermatologist waiting room for my annual check. They text me yesterday that if I was late, I’d be paying $$. Funny, can I ask for $$ or a discount since he’s now 1 hour past my appointment time?
Joke’s on you guy in WY off Craigslist who gave me a ‘neighbor’s’ number for some $200/ton alfalfa & instead got a radio station. I just won a Yeti cooler & free tickets to a rodeo.
15 days post-op, all bandages are off. Cleared to drive a little. Walking with a cane. PT going well. Working on getting the knee extension to zero - completely straight leg. Showering without help & even helping the kids feed show steers. Thank for all the encouragement y’all!
Daughter’s 2nd year, won intermediate showmanship with her steer “Brick”. 3rd in her class behind grand & 3rd overall. We’re off to San Antonio with him next month.
We got cleaned up & went to the Lubbock Symphony this past weekend. They performed the soundtrack to Star Wars while it played on the screen. The little one & his mom like Star Wars.
Local oil tool company had a Christmas party. Employees all got a custom made pair of boots. Then most got guns, others TVs. Fully stocked bar with no limits. The owner has his own jet.
I wonder if he’s hiring?
The DFW airport shoe shine lady at C-28 is working today!!! I haven’t caught her in 2 years! She’s from El Salvador. Basic shine starts at $14 and she’s worth every dime!!
We are showing goats this year. I know more about Beirut than I do about goats but we have great friends helping us out. We took a year or two off from steers because of my job. So, this keeps the kids involved still. Definitely out of our comfort zone!
Meet Josh. Josh is a Level 4 (out of 5) Mechanic for us. Josh gets bad reviews for his attitude. He’s been nothing but nice to me. Josh takes everyone’s on-call so he can get all the OT he can get. This guy by-God gets things done. He’s never backed away from any ….
Been waffling on whether to do this. That hail storm about 3 weeks ago - it got our dog ‘Pepper’. He had a dog house & awning to get under. Not sure why he got out in it, but he’s over the rainbow bridge. Hit me today mowing his backyard without him harassing me this time 🫤.
Day 22 straight of this place. I’ve been here every day since before the kids were off for Christmas break. Praying for a quiet night & that someone would turn this wind off!
I’m at the kind of tire place that isn’t much to look at. But Keith’s Tire in Snyder has a banner hanging as a sponsor at all the local Jr Livestock shows, ropings, & church events. It’s a pleasure doing business locally with this hombre!
My son’s first year showing steers. This is our county show last weekend. His little steer “Chopper” behaved really well. 3rd in his class & many folks hoping we would go to Fort Worth but he’s too little (1,070#).
Merry Crisis! Last Friday morning, this kid was taking his sister’s truck to the car show. I’m glad I was there when his tire popped. 35” 16.5 tire. Date code on the side was from 1984!! A relative brought a spare, I had the tools. All is well. Cool truck too.
WOW.
Mingus Reynolds of Texas Tech wins the NCAA National Championship in Wild West Mobility Shooting.
This is Texas Tech’s 11th National Championship in the sport. Is TTU a dynasty?
Here are the highlights:
The burnout is real! I’ve been at work for a 12 hour shift every day or night since 12 February. I’m finally off on 6 March. I did 22 straight over Christmas too. I’m grateful for a high paying job (for my area), & the benefits. But, I am so tired of seeing this goofy place.
Y’all, I have gotten fat. I hate it. I don’t know why I’m doing this exactly but I’m going to try like hell to loose weight. Maybe I’ll post a picture of a skinnier me. Maybe I’ll be just as fat in a few months. Stay tuned, here we go…
Getting more tv in than I usually do. If this Mike Lindell my pillow guy loves his country so much, why’s he pushing Giza cotton & not high quality US grown Upland & Pima?
Watched a guy back his gooseneck stock trailer into his stock tank to break the ice so the cattle could get a drink. I think West Texans are tired of this cold. 😆
Sunrise over Seymour, TX. 2 hours down, 8 to go. I’m out of coffee but the Walters, OK turnpike truck stop has that cinnamon pecan stuff I kinda like. Good morning!
If hot coolant drips on your shirt cuff on the side of an interstate while trying to get your belt back on a bad water pump to limp your truck to an exit - it’ll look like this a week later.
Drought, flood, blizzard, hurricanes, wildfires - it’s all bad. I’m guilty of feeling that my drouth experiences are worse than any flood out there. Let’s have some empathy & pray for & support those farmers taking a beating in the fields & emotionally. I’m here for you, friends
I do something some of y’all would think is odd. I buy used boots. I’m brand loyal to the Kansas-made Olathe boots (they aren’t the same since they went to the Mx border). I hit the jackpot on these! $500 for new ones like this. These were $150 shipped! Barely worn!
@bandedagllc
Gas plant guy & farmer here. Nearly all gas pipelines will do that. Some gas lines are hot. Some are cold. Disturbed soil & temperature differential will keep ground moisture near pipelines. Pretty neat phenomenon.
I thought I’d join the masses & post Easter photos. I didn’t get to church today, I was asleep. Working nights trying to keep this gas plant out of the bar ditch.
Wife bought a car in Ohio. So, I’m flying my happy ass up there on Tuesday & screaming back to Texas on Wednesday. I’ll be signing autographs along the way.
A quick trip out to dad’s with the kids. This horse is ornery. His name is Zorro. But - you stick my 7 year old on him & he does anything he wants. Help me understand…
Call ahead before heading that way with hay & supplies. Miami, TX is low on hay & you may be re-directed there. This is Texas. Oklahoma is also in need, check with their extension agents if you are wanting to direct resources to Oklahoma.
Local truck/tractor/trailer parts store. Owned & operated by a couple in their 90s!!! Their daughter runs the counter & I work with her husband out at the gas complex. Hes near retirement. This is an old school place & they have it all. I love shopping local here.
Saw an ad for some goofball show ‘Farmer wants a wife’? - what in the world? No real farmer has time to be part of a reality show. Public perception further backsliding
Let’s see y’all’s pickups. Company, farm, personal, toy hauler, tow pigs, wife’s grocery getter, daily driver.
Here’s the farm truck, company truck, then my tow pig/daily driver.
When I managed a feedmill in Guymon, OK - you could stand at the top of the mill, look South & see wind turbines in TX, look North & see grain elevators in KS.
