Today's sunny day has us wanting to share an update on the district-wide solar project! At its meeting on January 22, the Board of Education approved the contract with the structural engineer. Our expectation is to have solar panels installed during the summer/fall of 2020. 😎

Senior Katie Pullaro is the first ever RHHS female golfer to advance to the NYS Girls Golf Championships after qualifying in Sectionals tournaments last weekend. Kudos to Katie as she heads to Saratoga's McGregor CC Links this weekend for the state tourney! Have a great round!

Auditorium Project Updates: the majority of the foundation work is near completion; the outline of the stage is coming into focus. We expect steel beams to go up within the next few weeks. The goal is to have the structure closed in so that work can proceed throughout the winter.

Law enforcement informed us that the suspect of the incident in a local neighborhood is in custody. LAMS and RHHS students will be released for dismissal by law enforcement as a precautionary measure. All students and staff are safe, and we are following our safety protocols.
Congratulations to LAMS' Lego robotics team - the RaiderBots - on its 1st place in Project Presentation (creating safe bike paths in Red Hook) and 2nd place overall at Saturday's First Lego League competition!! The team advances to regional championships at DCC on 2/8/20.

The district is pleased to welcome Kyle Roddey as the new Red Hook High School principal. Mr. Roddey was appointed at the BOE meeting on 1/18 and will begin at the end of February. We are excited to have him join our school community and the Red Hook Raiders family!
Wow, indeed! We are so proud of three of our students who rescued a drowning victim. The boys were vacationing in Cape Cod when they witnessed a teen jump off a bridge and then struggle in the water. The local CBS affiliate TV station covered the story:

The District is pleased to announce the appointment of Stacie Fenn Smith as Principal of Linden Avenue Middle School! She first joined the district in 2002 as a teacher and has served as Assistant Principal since July 2018. She officially begins August 2 in her new role at LAMS.
Congratulations to our 2019-2020 Indoor Track & Field Section IX champions on their recent wins in the girls 1600 and 3200 relays, and the boys 1600 relay. Well done, student athletes!
Mill Road Elementary got some outdoor upgrades this summer! A new paved walkway connecting the PreK-2 side of the building with outdoor stage area and playground equipment, AND a larger paved playground for those days when rain, snow, mud keep us off the turf playground. Nice!
The RHHS auditorium project is considered essential construction under the state mandates and work continues. The foundation for the stage (shown here) and seating area will be poured soon. We look forward to the day when this beautiful space is done and occupied by all of you!

Red Hook CSD has been named one of the 2020 Best Communities for Music Education. This NAMM Foundation award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders to make music education part of a well-rounded education.
Kudos to LAMS robotics team members for their hard work at last weekend's FLL LEGO competition. The team came in 7th which is impressive for a first-year group going up against some very strong, experienced competition. We look forward to cheering you on at future events!

RHCSD has increased its pay for substitute teachers with the goal of attracting highly qualified, excellent candidates. For the 2019-20 school year: certified teachers - $100/day; uncertified - $85/day; and RHCSD retired teachers - $110/day.
