Candidate for Ohio's 10th Senate District.
Former State Representative, Ohio's 79th House District
Proudly served Clark County until term-limited (2015-2022).
Ohio is my home! I was born, raised, and went to college here. I married my wife and raised my family here. Our five adult children, their spouses, and my seven grandchildren live here. My business is here. I built my home here. I pay property taxes here.
My opponent… nope!
In 2021, I stood on the House Floor to explain how Householder attacked me for voting NO on the bill at center of largest bribery scandal in Ohio history. I received a subpoena letting me know I may have to testify in the actual trial. I will be glad to.
May God have mercy on his grandchildren. Householder brought this on his family, he brought this on the Ohio General Assembly.
Both have been hurt and damaged for years to come. It was his CONDUCT and and it OCCURRED because of his choices.
Now go after those who helped him.
“My right to defend myself from serious bodily harm or death does not change just because I am outside the walls of my home... inside or outside my car. My right to defend myself from serious bodily harm or death should be extended to anywhere I am lawfully allowed to be.”
I agree with the call to repeal House Bill 6 and I have signed on as co-sponsor of a bill to do just that.
I believe, however, we need to start fresh with ALL new Leadership in the Ohio House that is free from any influence by “Generation Now” and the passage of House Bill 6.
It’s going to be 90+° and humid in Columbus today. Maybe if we just shut off the AC at the State House… it would move along the budgeting process (and save tax dollars)!😓😥😅
“When I am President, it will be a day one priority..”
Excuse me… you are currently the Vice President of the United States!
“Day one” was about three years ago.
Are you saying the current President is doing nothing to reduce prices???
KAMALA: "Prices for every day things like groceries are still too high. When I am President, it will be a day one priority to fight to bring down prices."
(Kamala is the one that brought these prices up in the first place)
Joe Biden created a crisis in our small town of 60k residents. State and local officials have no power to deal with or stop a 20k increase. Only federal gov’t can stop it. Close the border.
But Chris Dorr & supporters suggesting they be hunted down and eaten is sick and twisted.
I will truly miss my friend Brigid Kelly.
While we disagreed on many issues, she always argued her point while smiling at you and treating you with respect.
She never called me by my first name or by some silly title… I was just “KOEHLER!!”
She was one of the best!
“When you come here, you’ve got to put on your big boy pants. You’ve got to pull your binkie out of your mouth and you’ve got to make tough decisions.”
It’s time to clean up our mess.
She married me, earned a doctorate, gave me 5 beautiful children, homeschooled them all, is a grandma a few times over… and THIS morning my wife is running a 5k past the state capital in 15 degrees. My colleagues should be thankful she didn’t sit in my desk for the last 8 years!
It sickens me to think that while I fought to stop predatory lenders in Ohio with the passage of HB123 in 2018, Josh Mandel left office as the State Treasurer and went to work for them.
My Legislative Aide,
@KatieCaprez
, helps me serve the constituents of the 79th District. Today is her two year anniversary in my office. Katie has helped me craft and move legislation that helps address issues across the state of Ohio. Thank you Katie!

I hear constituents views on both sides of so many issues. I can’t think of a time I have ever had all my constituents agree on one issue. They did not want Springfield carved out of Clark County. I voted “no” splitting our county.
I am a Conservative Republican. I know who I’m voting for.
But I worry about those still not sure.
Because receiving a text literally every 15 minutes (sometimes every minute) no matter how many times I block (or reply “stop”) would make me vote for the other side!!
STOP IT!
Wearing my Adam Smith tie in honor of the late Speaker Batchelder. The first time I met the Speaker, we reached out to shake hands and at the last second, he instead pointed at this tie and exclaimed “That’s an Adam Smith tie!!”
Adam Smith is considered the father of Capitalism.
What does the day after a big primary win look like? Clocked in before 7am and ready to work with my family and our great employees.
However the coffee does taste extra good this morning after a 64% to 36% victory.
Thank you to all who voted yesterday.
On to November!
Back in session for the first time in 2022. I restocked the M&Ms… so we are ready for my last year in the Ohio House of Representatives. Let’s do this!
As I end my eight years in the Ohio House, I simply want to say thank you to the citizens of the 79th District for the opportunity to serve. Happy trails…
You know it is going to be a good day when your daughter texts you with “He is up!” and then sends this picture showing him “waiting on Pop” to pick up up at 7:30am. What a blessing!
Opening session day in the Ohio House of Representatives for 2018 and our 2nd Hearing on House Bill 123 (my payday lending reform bill) sounds like just the reason to bring Schuler’s to Columbus!
My petitions to run for State Senate to replace my friend Senator Bob Hackett have been officially filed.
I look forward to taking the experience of serving 8 years in the Ohio House to the State Senate in 2024.
March 19th Primary is just over 90 days away.
A reminder in our paper today that 💚 she 💚 also stood up with us against this guy. It would have been so easy to just go along with everyone else. She did what was right instead. Well done BK… well done.
He signed it... Sub House Bill 123 has finally been signed into law. Thanks to the hard work of many people... payday lending reform has come to Ohio after 10 long years.
In case you’re wondering where your State Rep is after staying up until 1AM last night: Yeah, that’s right... out on the shop floor because manufacturing is BOOMING and we are short workers to run these machines!
Time to get Ohio back to work!!!
It’s done.
I’ve officially filed to run for re-election in order to continue representing Ohio’s 79th District in Columbus.
Let the hard work continue...
Happy

... How does the Chairman of the Ohio House Ag Committee celebrate National Ag Week?... I am out in our woods boiling down sap to make maple syrup. Finally!!!
We honored my dad and his five brothers who all served in WWII at the same time. John, Joe, Walt, Carl, James and William.
Walt was taken at Iwo Jima. They were truly “Springfield’s Band Of Brothers”.
Photographer Andy Grimm caught the moment when we knew the race was won! Thank you to our supporters & volunteers who walked 1,000s of doors. Thank you most of all to the voters who went to the polls and voted for me to serve in my 3rd term in the Ohio House. I am blessed.
Great to see

No words can describe the incredible respect and love I have for this man. My dad lived a life that was epitomized by a love for his wife, his family and his work.

John Koehler was a giant and I will miss him.
A Leader is NOT someone that SITS SILENTLY in the back of the room with arms folded and a smirk on their face when an organization is in turmoil and chaos. A leader is someone willing to stand up, speak up and lead. Thankful today for those I know who understand true leadership.
Celebrating 25th Annual ”Empty Bowls” at Wittenberg University with Second Harvest Food Bank. In 25 years, they have raised over $500k providing over 2 million meals for those in need. Kathrin and I have been sponsors for a number of years.
While I wait to vote on a new Speaker of the Ohio House for the 132nd General Assembly in May.
I hereby submit the name Joel Koehler for Speaker Of The House of the 148th Ohio General Assembly in 2050!!
@TeenPact
OH State Senator Koehler
I appreciate

for clearing up and correcting the fact that I did NOT speak about people eating pets in my town. I never mentioned it and only focused on the stresses that we are experiencing Clark County so that Shelby County will be ready.
Former Ohio Rep. Kyle Koehler (
@repkoehler
) discussed the Haitian crisis at a "Meet the Candidates" event at the Shelby Oaks Golf Club, in Ohio.
Note: Koehler did not mention reports of pets being eaten.
@berniemoreno
and
@Jim_Jordan
also spoke.
About to carry 8 gallons of finished syrup about 200 feet from the Sugar Shack to the house for bottling. That is five days of work and equates to 320 gallons of sap. With each step I am praying “Please don’t trip... please don’t trip!!!”

Switching to a Fee-For-Service model will stop Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) from “ripping off Ohio” of $100s of millions of dollars.
Wow -the Springfield Farmer’s Market and COHatch were busy this morning! The little guy and I had our regular breakfast from Ironworks (with our own maple syrup), enjoyed talking to folks and picking up a cinnamon roll from La Torte Dolci.

You might not like 15 degrees... but Maple Syrup Season starts in less than 30 days and we need a good cold-spell before we can start tapping the trees on our farm. It’s almost “maple syrup time” in Ohio!!
Dad would have been 93 today. I tried my best to honor him by getting up early, getting my coffee with too much cream & sugar. Then I worked on chores all day. Tonight, 60+ of us will rent out a theater to watch the new "Lion King".
Yeah - that is EXACTLY who he was...

I keep my head clear by spending a little time each month competing on horseback. Lightning finished the summer Gymkhana Season with Championship Buckles in BOTH Madison and Champaign Counties. 75 First Place finishes out of 85 runs this summer.
Lightning was a beast this year!
Wait!? I thought HB6 was a tax cut!!
Another day to be thankful I voted against Larry Householder as Speaker, again his bailout bill, voted to remove him as Speaker and from office…. and then testified against him in Federal Court.
There is still work to be done!
NEW: FirstEnergy customers remain furious at company execs who raised bills to allegedly fund the largest bribery scheme in Ohio history — especially as the men pleaded not guilty today.

Today is not her birthday. But on this Saturday before Easter, she will change her name...
Kathrin and I couldn’t be more happy and blessed!
Please be careful - there is another romaine lettuce recall this week in Ohio.
Anyone ever notice that we never seem to have a “safety recall” on doughnuts? Just sayin’!
“Let’s be careful out there!”

House Government Accountability and Oversight will meet at 11am to consider a vote on House Bill 123 to Reform Payday Lending in Ohio.
Of course, we have a long way to go after getting out of committee!!
It is (as the song goes)... still just a bill!
Do I get extra bonus points for saying I had no idea it was my daughter-in-law’s birthday and was just being nice to her and my son? Or do I just run with the “Of course I knew it was your birthday!” messaging?
I am tired of being blamed for everything!
Here, a mother is blaming me for a baby that won’t sleep last night.
Honestly... the two hour “Easter nap” on Pop’s chest in a recliner was the child’s doing!!
Then wide awake late last night... she decides to “name name’s”!! 😡

It is March 31st and I’m not marrying off a daughter this year… the streak has officially ended.
Let the selling of charger-plates and tablecloths begin!
Happy 1st and 2nd Anniversary to these two special couples.
I am simply overwhelmed and humbled by these results. Thank you to the voters of the 79th District. Simply speechless. Thank you again for allowing me one final term.
Grandchildren are the legacy we leave behind… therefore it is imperative to teach them which “piazza” is the best pizza in all of Ohio!!

Ran my horse 14 times at both the Clark County Fairgrounds and the Champaign County Fairgrounds this weekend. Came away with 13 1st-Place Ribbons.
Now off to Franklin County this week to consider Hemp Legislation in the Ohio House Ag Committee.
