I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been openly mocked and laughed at in theatre by seniors and colleagues because I have two wear two scrub caps to cover my braids (I’ve not worked in a trust where I’ve been able to find a cap that fits). Let’s maybe stop doing that.

As a med student I’m often spoken to like I’m pond scum before I’ve had a chance to open my mouth. Sometimes people backtrack when I mention I’m a dentist (often it gets worse). Why should I have to mention it at all? Let’s just talk to each other like human beings 💆🏽‍♀️

About to fail a placement because the consultant won't allow me to complete a mandatory assignment with them as they're too busy. I'm not blaming them; we just need to be realistic about the extra time needed for doctors to provide adequate 'on-the-job' teaching for students.

As an SHO I was once bleeped repeatedly to go and cannulate a patient only to then have the nurse in question tell me she didn’t want me to do it wrong so did it herself in front of me with the kit I got ready Still not sure if it was a dick move or just a magnificent power play

In my first ever placement of med school a consultant mocked me and a colleague on the ward round for performing an abdominal examination badly, a skill we had neither been taught nor observed. Experiences like this can be completely derailing - we should be doing better

I was med student on day unit oncology today. The nurses were absolutely lovely but just far far too stretched to take on a med student (they still did though!) absolutely baffles me how gov think we can stuff more med students in to an already overstuffed teaching calzone.

I chose to leave dental practice because of the b*llocks NHS dental system. Other dentists have chosen to relinquish their NHS contracts. This is what happens when you enact the “if you don’t like it, leave” mentality that so many think is the answer to strike action

I don’t blame people for not believing doctors’ pay, even other healthcare professionals. £14/hr for a qualified doctor is *quite literally* unbelievable. Lean in to that shock and horror and keep that momentum to support your doctor colleagues when they strike hard! ✊🏽💙

When patients complain of tonsillitis pain I sympathise deeply because when I had it i was so desperate I gave myself a local anaesthetic infiltration into one of my tonsils It didn’t work, and then I had a haematoma AND tonsillitis.

Today? We look further into the @gmcuk data & specialty exams “Surely it is about deprivation” Ok. Digest this. A Black doctor in the LEAST deprived quintile (5) has 10% lower pass rate than a White doctor in the MOST deprived quartile More accountability- less hashtags.

This story did not surprise me in the least. While her son and I were dating, my first boyfriend’s mother BOUGHT a collection of these dolls to display on her staircase, then gaslit ME into thinking I was the problem for taking objection to that act.
