I have previously heralded Serial as a seminal piece of media and even made a podcast originally based on reviewing it. But given the facts of the case, Rabia’s analogy is precise. Serial doesn’t hold up. And its biggest crime is its abandonment of its own reporting.

Don’t forget the reason Adnan was freed. Because the STATE failed to share EXCULPATORY evidence with the defense. These are the same folks trying to put him back in prison for a crime he did not commit, which would make their own misconduct…what, disappear?

This is honestly disappointing. Serial is the reason we are all here for this case. If this murder is solved, and this team doesn’t cover it…how can the New York Times justify that?

We won’t be covering Adnan’s case anymore, or the now-unsolved case of Hae Min Lee’s murder. But we know many other capable reporters will be, and so we’ll be watching and reading and listening.
