Founder & CEO of ResiBrands- That 1 Painter, Garage Up & Pink's
I help people build million-dollar businesses💰
Check out the ResiBrands site to learn how ⬇️
I convinced
@Codie_Sanchez
to give me millions of dollars.
Now we’re building the world’s largest trades franchise TOGETHER!
Here’s how it happened (& 3 ways you get BIG partners in business):
Let me tell you how we built the nation's fastest-growing window cleaning and pressure-washing company.
Before this, I built the nation's fastest-growing painting franchise, which now has 372 franchised territories.
Now we're at it again!
I am the CEO and Founder of the nation's fastest-growing and largest painting franchise. We have grown to 372 locations over the last three years.
And here is why I think Little Rock, Arkansas is a great un tapped market .
*MAJOR NEWS* BIGGEST INVESTMENT OF MY CAREER, WE’RE MAKING THE TRADES GREAT AGAIN.
I just became co-owner of ResiBrands, the fastest growing trade services franchise business in the country. 🤘💪🧽👷🏼♂️👩🔧
My mission for years has been to make Main Street businesses (that drive
That 1 Painter is my baby and always has been!
13 straight years (3 since we started franchising) building the greatest painting company ever. But we’re not done yet. Always improving!
Here are some of the updates and new things that will be rolling out over the next month or
In the last 3 years, we franchised 3 brands – That 1 Painter, Pink’s, and Garage Up – with 440 total territories.

So what's next for ResiBrands x Contrarian Thinking?
Our goals:
1. Make our franchisees wildly successful.
2. Turn our brands into household names.
3. Bring dignity back to the trades and our cities.
4. Introduce new brands and dominate the home service market.
1. Build Something You’re Proud Of
Early on, we decided NOT to invest in PR.
Instead of forcing people to pay attention to us, we built something significant & focused on the craft.
Eventually, people would notice...
3. Be Someone Worth Partnering With
After the day of shooting with Codie’s team, I got this text.
This led to..
- 3 months of due diligence
- Tons of conversations & negotiations
- And finally, a deal that we were both REALLY excited about.
I started my business with $12 in my pocket and I’ve reinvested profits into growth at every opportunity.
Here’s a video from when I first started my painting company…
Maybe you know Codie Sanchez:
- VC portfolio worth $3B+
- 20+ companies in her holdco
- Over 6M followers across platforms
This is the PR break we’d been hoping for.
But the best part? She reached out to us…
I’ve been a long-time follower of Codie.
She's serious about:
- challenging industry titans
- reviving the SMB space in the US
- actively helping companies grow.
It's been incredible how much this aligns with my own story...
Often, after 10 months of searching & negotiating, a deal falls apart after a Quality of Earnings report because the seller has unrealistic expectations of their business’ worth.
Franchising lets people get started on a business faster and with less headache.
2. Free Press Comes w/ Good Stories
Codie saw the people behind the brand.
She featured my story in her newsletter.
Then we shot a video about Pink's. (Coming out soon on her YT!)
But press is one thing. Deals are another…
As an entrepreneur, you may feel like you need to have superpowers like Captain America or Thor. But in reality, you’re way better off if you’re just really good at recruiting like Nick Fury.
I’m building a new handyman company. It will offer routine maintenance as part of a subscription model and concierge contractor management as part of the offer. This means we will find and vet contractors and other tradesmen for you. We won’t GC the project but manage the
From my experience, going from 0 to 1 is the hardest part of becoming an entrepreneur.
Starting a business from scratch involves making a thousand make-or-break decisions.
So after I scaled my company, I could see the ways to make it much more simple…
It’s been a very fun and busy two weeks.
I promoted someone who has been with me for two years to Brand President of That 1 Painter.
Our VPO at Garage Up is crushing it and could soon earn the title of Brand President.
We Hired a VPO for our new Roofing Franchise (more to
Franchising.
It turns decades into days by allowing others to borrow my homework & avoid all my mistakes in building these companies.
You start at 1 instead of 0.
Entrepreneurship is lonely, but franchising offers the comradery of people building the same business as you.
My painting company has grown to nearly 400 locations/territories in 3 years.
And here is why I am bullish on Scranton, PA.
And no it’s not just because I’m a fan of The Office.
Meet my favorite future Billionaire (it's NOT who you think):
Dropped out of college (2010)
Started a painting business just to get by & had "no goals"
Finally stops working jobs (2015)
Grew that business into the largest painting company in Texas after being called
If you've heard of
@Codie_Sanchez
, you've probably heard about buying existing, established businesses.
Which is awesome.
But, it also takes a long time...

@sweatystartup
PE scares the shit out of everyone lol we have the same experience with franchisees, it’s one of the most common questions I get asked “are you selling to PE?” Because they don’t want to be part of a brand ran by PE.
We built the fastest growing painting franchise in the nation
@That1Painter
with 372 units in 3 years.
We built the fastest growing window cleaning franchise in the nation
@pinkswindows
with 60 units in 10 months.
In the next 30 days I’ll announce two more brands. Any guesses
Business Lesson from my Uber Driver: Discipline makes you more money with less stress.
We were chatting about what it’s like to be an Uber Driver, and he said he wakes up at three and works until 10 am.
Why?
The morning runs are with professionals going to work or the
One of the best traits you can have in an employee is if they are annoying to the other employees.
No, I don’t mean that they cook fish in the microwave.
They don’t accept delays, or sub standard work, pester everyone to do better and raise the standard across-the-board.
@shainadenny
All mine make a lot more. I’m confused by it too. But it’s because some brands aren’t hiring revenue drivers they are hiring baby sitters.
@itstyleryeo
Literally terrible advice. People need to talk it’s part of how they talk themselves into things and get the validation they need. Dream big and dream openly.
Three Levels of a Competitive Mindset
1. You think your competitors suck.
Most people start here, and it’s where everyone should start because if you don’t think some of your competitors suck, you might not get started or try to do better.
2. You realize some of your
At Resi, we embrace a philosophy inspired by Elon Musk: “Cybertruck it.” What does this mean?
- Build anticipation for something great.
- Make it unique and different.
- Make it bulletproof.
- Delay for quality when needed.
- Accept that you’re not for everyone.
As you can see, none of the competitors seem to be doing all that well on Google. Becoming the second highest reviewed painting company in Little Rock really wouldn't be that hard
I went from running a small painting company to owning one of the largest home painting companies in the world, worth over $100 million dollars.
How did I do it?
I discovered the secret to success.
Let's talk about it.
If someone had taken a shot at either Biden or Trump we should be outraged. This isn’t a Red vs Blue thing this is about what it means to be American. Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.
Pink’s is eye-catching! and it proves that boring business does not have to be boring. It’s not just us that think that though. Pink’s was recently featured in the movie Hitman with Glen Powell.
Stop shoulding on yourself, and don’t let others should on you!
People tell themselves constantly I should do this, I should do that, and it piles up and builds anxiety.
Stop
Give yourself the room to pick one or two important things, do those well, and add more later when
Since we were already experienced with franchising at ResiBrands, adding a third brand like this seemed like a great option. But what made it better was how well we connected with Brandon and Carter. One of the conversations we had before partnering was about vision and what we
Reading and applying the principles from "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" by John Maxwell changed my life, especially the Law of the Lid.
The first chapter states that your success will never surpass your level of leadership.
This principle shifted my focus from just
It started when I met these guys—Brandon and Carter, founders of Pink’s.
They had built a phenomenal brand here in Austin after each of them had been laid off during Covid. Window cleaning seemed easy and was low cost. So they partnered up, started knocking on doors and talking
Meaning you have no money left to build a support team. Resi has over 70 people on staff to support our franchisees, and we can afford it without any PE backing. And with our far above-average level of support, ResiBrands will become the most successful home service franchise.
Here is part of our secret sauce: ResiBrands doesn’t use an FSO (Franchise Sales Organization) We sell our own franchises. Why is that important? We have capital left over after the sale of a franchise. When using an FSO, you will lose money every time you sell a franchise.
In our territory mapping software, we like to track how many Sherwin-Williams are in each market. Little Rock has 14! Sherwin Williams does not put any stores anywhere by accident. They have a lot more data than I do and have decided to go pretty hard on this city. 14 stores is a

Treated more like making friends. Br a connector and a giver not just a taker.
Additionally be strategic, for example, I actually have a list of all my network so I can follow up with them.
Saying the right thing and doing the right thing are two different things. Seems like that should be obvious, but in my experience, it’s not. Saying is a lot easier than doing. And supporting your franchisees is no different.
@TheNathanRuff
I agree with you. For a lot of types of businesses that rely on higher income areas it may not be the best. We do a mix of residential and commercial and have found midsize less popular markets to be really good because there’s just simply a lot less competition, but all these
