I've tried to explain this to every urban planner, city official & politician (especially the Black ones)... you can either make housing more affordable by upzoning or more expensive by maintaining status quo or worse downzone. "Fighting gentrification" is not a real strategy.

Just look at biz bro "I don't talk politics" types and you will see the political asymmetry. It's cool, edgy and safe to criticize Democrats. But Repubs can propose banning people from traveling to different states for medical care and not a peep from the biz bro crowd.
