In the piece I argue that a robust conception of privacy, essential to the protection and vindication of rights for all people, is incompatible with borders.
Excited to announce that I have accepted a tenure-track position at the University of Oregon School of Law! Excited to be a part of an amazing intellectual community and to do the pathbreaking scholarship I have always dreamed of doing.
Where do I begin...I'll just lead with the fact that, as an undocumented/illegalized person, I earned a JD from the
#1
law school in the country and a PhD from the
#1
public university in the world all before the age of 30.
Starting from community college as well.
Black folks: post a true, non-humble, flex about yourself that you’d never say out loud because you have couth.
I wanna see Ya’ll BRAG on what your Ancestors have rendered!
Me: I’m one the best thinkers, writers and speakers of my generation.
10 years ago, almost to the day, I graduated from community college with no idea what was next. Now, I am celebrating completing my PhD a year after finishing my JD. How's that for a

Community Colleges work.
Often I think of the tweet that said “Men will take one good headshot and use it for the next 10 years.” Anyway, I’m excited to use this photo to usher in the next decade
Jimmy Kimmel just scorched earth on Aaron Rodgers!
“A guy who went to community college, then got into Cal on a football scholarship & didn’t graduate… Aaron Rodgers got two A’s on his report card, and they were both in the word, ‘Aaron’.”

It’s insane to me that the people who shout from the rooftops about “OUR DEMOCRACY” have taken this position: unelected bureaucrats can throw the elected president in prison for “mishandling” documents. Does Article 2 mean anything? If so Trump did nothing wrong.
Very thankful for my mother, and I’m very happy to have made her proud. Last night she pauses and said “Thank you.” I said “For what?” to which she responded “For staying the course.”
I don’t think I would have if I didn’t have your example, mum.
A woman came up to me, introduced herself, and revealed that she is undocumented. She also then told me that she had read my story and that is what inspired her to apply to--and attend--

Day made.
Every so often, I think about leaving academia. Not because I don't like the work, or because I'm not cut out for it. It is because it tries to break you that are difficult to articulate and are even more difficult to stomach. I don't want to leave, but I might have to.
Law profs and others. You must read the complaint against Northwestern (ok not today) by Jonathan “SB-8” Mitchell. It is horrific in every way. It names names, gravely insults my friend
@DBRodriguez5
, and is one dogpile of racist, sexist shit.
As a former law student, I didn't think it was the professor's job to prepare me for the real world/courtroom life. Just make sure I learn the material in that class, and be accessible to answer my questions when I need help. That's it.

I’ve faced more adversity than most people endure in multiple lifetimes. What I learned is that most of the suffering we inflict provides no useful lessons. It inflicts trauma that we make peace with only by deluding ourselves as to its value, and so we visit it upon others.
This is why they cannot handle adversity, they breakdown, start yelling and become violent. They are being coddled so much that once in the real world they will be destroyed. They will also support more tyranny because they need the government’s “protection”.

that my paper "Privacy and the Impossibility of Borders" has been accepted for the New Voices in Immigration Law at AALS's 2024 Annual Meeting!
Now back to grading these midterms...
NEW: A Texas man firing an AR-15 in his front yard killed five people in a neighboring home after they asked him to stop shooting because a baby was sleeping. Police said all were shot execution-style; the youngest victim was 8-years-old.

Alright, so here goes.
So this is not my first go-around with sobriety. I began that journey this summer after a confluence of good (and bad) things that, in the aggregate, were a lot to handle. I had the move to a new place, the stress of a just-finished dissertation, and the..
My second day of law school, a 3L told me "You don't go to Yale Law School to study law." At the time I thought that statement was the most preposterous shit I ever heard.
Years later, it still is preposterous, but it makes sense. The Ruby v. YLS debate brought that back.
If you're not legal, perhaps, we're assessing potential mugshots? They're both you, so they're both great! Besides, only You can judge the Man in the Mirror.

A 6-year-old child shot his teacher at a Virginia elementary school on Friday, police say.
Now authorities face an uncomfortable question: How should they prosecute a crime committed by a first-grader?
One month until I must finish my dissertation and my impostor syndrome is horrendous. Please send me words of encouragement, or any support you can. I need it.
Here is a story about two immigrants that I am overjoyed to share:
When I told my mother that I'll be a law professor, a goal that I had expressed to her as a community college student, she said to me “My mission is done. My mission is fruitful.”
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
I’m gonna need that John Oliver exposé on emergency vets, because they are so damn exploitative. They’re gonna charge you $3k without a second thought and look at you like “You’re gonna let your pet die?! You better be maxing out those cards as we speak!”
So yesterday marked 9 years since I was evicted and put out on the street. Was *this close* to dropping out of college and giving up on my goal of being a (law) professor.
Wild how nine years later I'm going to live that dream. Truly amazing stuff.
As someone who now has good dental insurance, I am embarrassed to go to the dentist because I have the teeth of someone who hasn’t had good dental insurance for a while.
