Dear Coaches:
I am a graduate catcher looking to pursue a new opportunity for my last year of eligibility. I am looking for a place to compete, to challenge myself, to reach my full potential and win a championship!

Two Solutions:
1. Drop Step - Create a throwing lane by stepping back with your right foot and crossing over with your left.
2. DIY (Do it Yourself) - This one rarely happens, but it’s a good tool to add to the belt.
….Create your throwing line by clearing the batter with your glove arm, stepping in front of her, then getting a throw off.
*The clip of the girl throwing in the batter's face is not me, lol

5. Watch my front foot in both clips. On my knee throw, my front knee glides forward as if it were my front foot stepping forward on my throw from the feet. I’m gaining ground with my trunk so I can create separation to then pull my throw through with my trunk and core.
There are many ways to get a job done. Not all catchers have the same genetic makeup or skillset. Choose whichever style you’re the quickest and find more success in!
2. Catching the top part of the softball/baseball. We should always try to aim to catch the bottom part of the ball to bring it up and into the zone. This makes for smoother receiving and helps eliminate glove bounce — which ultimately leads to more strikes⚡️
I was taught to kick back at a young age and have successfully used that method. Softball catchers are ultimately fine using either style because of the lower likelihood of receiving a huge bounce due to underhand pitching.
Soft hands are ESSENTIAL as a catcher👐⬇️
Try this bare handed tennis ball receiving drill. The key is to have soft hands while keeping your wrist strong. Think about catching an egg and trying to not let it crack…
1. Both pop times are slow. Mechanics are there; I just need to speed it up. During the fall, I emphasized shortening my reach back (too much.) During this particular practice, I got longer and, therefore, added more velocity behind my throw.
