@ToastCrust
a lot of the arguments I've had with people over the years wrt: FFXIV is because they struggle to read prose like that, yes
not all of them are even non-native speakers, fwiw
so "Woke Kindergarten" is definitely a psyop-cum-scam, right
like this reads like parody. it's exactly the kind of thing right-wingers fearmonger about
this looks an image out of conservative dystopian movie where AOC becomes a communist dictator announcing mandatory gender transitions and homosexuality

this is something that actually does happen. some people, for whatever reason, play video games by murdering every single NPC who "annoys" them or "looks at them funny"
please stop trying to use Persona 5 to own the chuds. the entire reason both you and them can be fans of that game is because it refuses to make a real commitment to anything it's saying
every so often some guy on here comes out in favor of drunk driving, but in a way that makes it clear they believe it's way more common than it actually is (because they themselves do it alll the time)

@LittleMammith
this is also the fundamental reason why protestors block traffic, deface works of art, interrupt sporting events, etc. it's not to get their message out, it's to punish normies, who are their biggest enemy.
it does feel a little disconcerting that some people's takeaway wrt. to arguments about Steven Universe was "being a pacifist is gay (pejorative) and you should always want to kill all your enemies"

@HatokTalk
he has the same issue as early 2010s Yahtzee where it's only funny when it's something you're unfamiliar with
except Yahtzee learned from that and Dunkey has yet to,

it's cause you can't borrow money infinitely anymore
in reality, none of these companies would have been able to exist with their practices intact had the economy not been incredibly generous to them for years
for like 15 years people treated the the idea that "turn based combat is boring and obsolete and objectively bad game design" as a totally normal and valid opinion
"But without the paint, people would easily miss what you're supposed to do!"
Maybe if modern AAA games didn't regularly sacrifice readable environments for the sake of ultra-realism that wouldn't be a problem?
chuggaaconroy seems to be completely incapable of interacting with women like a normal person, which is more or less what you'd expect from a Xenoblade fan,
@KrisWolfheart
well, it's not based on nothing, it's based on the opinions of really loud white people who wore baseball caps backwards and wrote for gaming magazines in the late 00s
left-wing grifters are grifting, specifically, their politics and thus their Good Personhood
right-wing grifters don't have to maintain that veneer because their audience likes them solely for being Based
>hb spends like 2 hours shitting on james somerton
>james somerton fans are upset and stop supporting him
>hb spends like 20 minutes shitting on internet historian over one thing
>internet historian fans get pissed and refuse to accept he did any wrong
there was a gigantic media push to support Ukraine, Russia is already America's enemy, and most people lack critical thinking skills? this isn't really that hard
Looking back at this, there was SO much outward support for Ukraine from the western world (rightfully so still)
But where's that energy for Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Congo, etc?
this is a controversial opinion but he's correct actually
tired of seeing "[new game]: the movie" 10 minutes after midnight release with end boss spoilers in the thumbnail
@HatokTalk
given how many dudes kill people in games for "disrespecting them", I think devs aren't wrong to assume that cruelty is inherently an enjoyable practice
the thing about these psychopaths getting mad at whatever translation of the month is that they make it impossible to criticize actual bad localizations
threads like this are always really funny, because I think the broader point about loc teams not having enough oversight is actually correct
but as soon as they get into specific examples they lose the plot entirely
FFXIV has an utterly terrible rewrite of a localization, so I'm going to be streaming the whole MSQ in Japanese and translating it live so you too can see just how butchered the story, characters, and tone are.
Wednesdays and Sundays 4PM PST 7PM EST
just gonna say right now, since I'm seeing posts defending Chugga using this as an excuse: going like "oh he's autistic, he can't help but ask for feet pics", fuck off with that
genuinely scared for the future of bg3 and if scenes i enjoy are gonna be completely different in a years time due to larian changing stuff based on popular takes from fans
also committing the classic blunder of assuming that Koji Fox is personally responsible for everything to do with the English localization
also committing the equally classic blunder of hating jokey quest names and item descriptions

like yes the Japanese quest names and item descriptions are very rote and explanatory
yes the English used in the localization as a whole is vaguely Victorian where the JP is contemporary. that doesn't mean it's bad or wrong lmao
there's an Adam Curtis documentary, 'The Use and Abuse of Vegetational Concepts', that's about this kind of misinterpretation of natural phenomena to make arguments about human society. highly recommended
Famously, the scientist who came up with the concept of the “alpha male” in wolves later realized that these dynamics only emerge in captivity, when different males are thrown together randomly. In the wild, wolves have strong familial bonds and don’t compete that way.
some of these characters aren't even children and some of them are actual mass murderers lmao
like I get the point that this is about people exhibiting weird misogyny, but like,
Tintin is fascinating in a historical sense because there's that whole arc where he goes to occupied China and the Chinese are drawn like normal humans and the Japanese occupiers are the worst racial stereotypes you've ever seen
see this is the kind of thing that I was talking about earlier lmao
Wuk Lamat will probably not be a permanent character because, yes, her story is limited to what Dawntrail is doing. that's... normal? that's how writing that kind of arc-driven narrative works?
